David, 12 Aug 2024At a certain point the damage it does to the batteries isn’... moreExactly...i buy flagships so i can use it for 5-6 years.
My OP7TPRO is almost 5yrs old and battery is good so far even with heavy usage. 🤞🏻
I bet this 320W supersonic charger won't do battery any favors if you are planning to use it for a long time.
Hell, even Tesla doesn't recommend using a fast charger, like a Supercharger, every day for regular charging. Frequent use of fast charging can accelerate battery degradation over time due to the higher temperatures and energy throughput involved.
So these are merely smartphone batteries, why do people think this will be a success?! 🤦🏻♂️

David, 12 Aug 2024At a certain point the damage it does to the batteries isn’... moreYeah. Increasing charging speeds by leaps and bounds right now is a gimmick. It may have dividends in future, but for now, charging speeds over 120 Watt are a gimmick. It'd be way better to invest in increasing battery energy densities and reducing phone power consumption. I'm honestly more interested in seeing how Xiaomi does with their supposed 7500 mAh battery.

Realme's fast-charging technology is nothing more than hot air. The 240W technology was used exclusively in the GT3, which is not even available in all markets.

Demonicale, 12 Aug 2024I'm sure a company investing very heavily in this tech... moreI bet that's what Samsung thought with the Note 7!

Slowly but surely going towards instant charge technology, maybe another 5 years or so.

This is the most anti-apple form of engineering I’ve ever seen. Apple & Samsung would rather have one large battery instead of multiple cells. They would rather do the core technology right instead of tricking consumers with low-longevity workaround solutions that cause more harm than good.
Your Realme battery will inflate like crazy, your phone will heat up like no tomorrow. This will only increase the number of repairs, cause more fire hazards & make the 7 years of updates meaningless.
Could Realme end up with a Note 7 situation? Yes, but their brand is not popular enough to be recognized by Airports, etc… therefore i Guess Realme is fine with it given they could get away with it & own multiple sub brands?

0-17% in 35 seconds suggests a total charging time of about 4 minutes. Not sure where they're getting that drastic efficiency improvement from. By comparison, a 120W phone with 4500 mAh takes 15 minutes at best. And you would expect a higher wattage phone to use the peak wattage less. So, even if they decide against 320W, that would still mean a 107W phone could be charged in 12 minutes, for example. I'm sceptical they'll pull this off.

David, 12 Aug 2024At a certain point the damage it does to the batteries isn’... moreI'm sure a company investing very heavily in this technology fully understands that this might be an issue and put R&D into this area. So when people say what you've just said, it kind of makes no sense.

At a certain point the damage it does to the batteries isn’t going to be worth the speed. I prefer my batteries to last a long time.
