14 August 2024
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold uses a side-mounted reader instead. Previously, the Pixel 8 and older models used optical fingerprint readers.

New SoC , new E7 screen , new periscope.

I wonder how they'd compare to qualcomm and mediatek chips if they were given a "fair" shot, because right now they have the added handicap of samsung manufacturing, same as exynos.

BMHater12, 14 Aug 2024And Vivo doesn't use that gigantic ultrasonic scanner ... morethey had to let go of it because the X100 Ultra had both a large battery AND huge cameras. I think if Vivo keeps having these huge cams they won't be able to provide that sensor again, look at the temps of the phone, they're too high. The X100 Ultra is completely stacked. The phone's gonna burst lol

These brands are expected to give a new chip every year, even Apple doesn't charge higher for just a chip change. So by your logic, the cost of developing a mid chip is 100 dollars. So Apple develops the best CPUs rn, shouldn't they cost 500 dollars more at least?

Or what about cameras, the variable aperture of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the quad, great sensor cam setup means the phone should cost 700 dollars more than a Pixel.

Do you expect the Pixel to cost the same as something else that's clearly better?

New ten... moreThe $100 price increase from the 8 Pro ($140 increase when comparing 256gb to 256gb) is asking a lot for such a marginal spec increase. Especially since this is still a Samsung SoC! The worst in the business for flagships.

Unless you are getting a fantastic trade-in deal, the value here is maybe the lowest Google has ever offered for a Pixel.

They should start using Qualcomm's SoC next.

[deleted post]Aww that's a shame. I guess I should have read the size more carefully. I wish companies would just adopt the big boy, at least for high end phones.

So? Others brand used it too. It’s not a big deal. Plus all the Pixel 9 models (be it the vanilla version or the Pro or the extra Pro) get the same SoC 🤦🏻‍♂️ yet the price is different and can go as 200 USD differences 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
Same weak SoC, only different RAM, Storage and camera (lens) setup 🤦🏻‍♂️

They finally eliminated that disgusting optical fingerprint reader and yet I see people complaining hahaha, no wonder companies do what they want! Because as Steve Jobs said, people don't know what they want haha. The important thing is that they eliminated that garbage that is capable of leaving you blind in the dark.
