Hope Nokia decilines.
We have enough of Samsung if they want they can build their own network from scratch.

After this what is actually left of Nokia? Some kind of weak server solutions branch?

I think they should go ahead. Plus, obviously, Samsung wants to start using Exynos all round. So, this should be towards that movement.

Darth Caesium, 31 Aug 2024That would make Samsung a monopoly. This is a terrible pote... moreIt won't, neither Nokia nor Samsung has large marketshare to make monopoly in network infrastructure, Both Huawei and Ericson are as large as Nokia and there are other players like Zte and LG.

Darth Caesium, 31 Aug 2024That would make Samsung a monopoly. This is a terrible pote... moreHow would they be a monopoly when Qualcomm, CCP (Huawei) holds larger market shares?
It would be problematic for the EU, losing a core technology overseas. They can definitely not sell to one of the two big ones. That would be a disaster.

Darth Caesium, 31 Aug 2024That would make Samsung a monopoly. This is a terrible pote... moreexactly! I was about to say the same thing.
If Samsung controls everything they can either choose to not give some others the rights to stuff they need (like how Huawei got nuked for 5G) OR they could increase the prices so much that those companies can't provide products at a reasonable price or have to take up losses for the prices to be feasible for the consumer. Thus destroying the competition.
They could also reduce the price so much so that most competitors die out, and then start charging higher and higher.
This is NOT what a free market is. We're doomed if this happens.

That would make Samsung a monopoly. This is a terrible potential deal for us — governments, please strike this deal down if Samsung and Nokia do actually decide to go through with it.
