technically Nokia's whole business would be their Bell R&D labs and patents licensing after this sell out
it is sad to see once a huge company slowly turning to dust

jiyen235, 31 Aug 2024exactly! I was about to say the same thing.
If Samsung c... moreWow!
You have NO IDEA for what you're talking about!
First put aside your own personal feelings.
Second research what the word Monopoly means - if you haven't played the board gale more than a year to fully understand the business sense of a monopoly!
Then when you understand networking business.
Then research why Huawei had the embargo!! Fully research that it'll take you more than a weekend trust me! Do NOT read opinion pieces in news read facts: about the company itself then the business.
Then ask yourself:
Does it make any sense for Ericsson, Samsung, Huawei or any network equipment provider & maker to ONLY host their own devices OR to better serve their own devices and under serve competition?! They'd be destroyed in fines from every country their have business in!
Was Ericsson running a monopoly for their network business and phone business when they partnered with Sony to make phones for 15yrs?! NO! They were not and not 1 single antitrust or monopoly case in ANY country was ever brought forth to Ericsson.
Get some intelligence will you.

Interesting move if Samsung goes ahead with acquiring Nokia's network infrastructure business. With Nokia struggling against Ericsson and Huawei, this could significantly boost Samsung's position in the RAN market. If the $10 billion deal materializes, Samsung would become a major player in the industry, which could lead to more competitive offerings and innovations in network technology

Darth Caesium, 31 Aug 2024That would make Samsung a monopoly. This is a terrible pote... moreLmao.
No it would not. Please look up the definition of the word before slinging it.
As a network equipment and servic3 provider it would NOT help Samsung to only accept their own devices. It would loose billions.
You have a failure in reading comprehension and of this business. Read the article again! Then research

Nokias networking business is suffering and antiquated.
This will help negotiate top tier chips and global networks where Huawei failed internationally.

Dr. Watson, 31 Aug 2024...have people already forgotten about the fact that Samsun... morelet's see if TM Roh is still employed..... oh wait he's still there!
Words don't mean anything. Actions do. Don't listen to what corporations or their CEOs say, look at what they do. TM Roh is the cause of Samsung being so low in quality recently. Trying to make better software at the expense of hardware, whilst not providing the best software.
OneUI isn't bug free as it is made out to be. I've gotten so used to Windows's bugs that I can ignore them on my phone but there's a number of bugs still, though credit where credit is due, it's a lot less than before and it's quite a lot smoother than before but the competition is 90-95% of the way there in terms of bugs so it ain't no crutch they can use anymore.

Every company wants a dominant position. That's always bad for us, the customers. Institutions must monitor and prevent this. Do they really do that, other than rhetorically? I wouldn't say.
But this is much more important: people (i.e. customers) worldwide don't realize how powerful they are. For example, if there is no charger with the phone, you should not buy it. It's like buying a car without wheels. But we agreed to it (including me, of course) and who is to blame?
My point is: corporations are only as powerful as we let them be. Their mortal fear is falling sales. This is our advantage, which we do not use. Even worse - we are happy when we overpay for a device.

MihaiRo, 31 Aug 2024I start hating this SCAM-SUNG ,Apples copy paste!!!I find it really weird to see people say Samsung be a copycat of Apple when Samsung was doing phones decades before Apple entered in the market. Apple basically cope from every other brand phones to just make one of their own
Basically all the tech that Apple have or had was made by others. They just pick the lego blocks to build their own house with them and then call it theirs and others will be copycats and never mind the fact that others have advanced the tech so apple can even make something on their own. Apple only had a genius in marketing and thats it.
It's like all the new electric cars coming out under electronics brands. Same was with smartphones when Apple made them popular with their genius in marketing then others started to make them too who didnt do them before as for example Gigabyte and Asus that were both doing motherboards for computers

GreatnessZ, 31 Aug 2024how's 25% market share makes Samsung a monopoly? Did you read the post? While 25% isn't huge in the context of a monopoly, it would make them the second largest RAN provider. And considering how there isn't many of them to begin with, this would give Samsung an awful lot of power, what with them being phone and chip manufacturers and all. This could be utilised in a similar way to what Qualcomm does to eliminate competition by not allowing other SoC makers to use certain key network bands.
