Lol the cheaper iPhone SE, i bet you not it's going to start at least 799$ with probably 128GB memory to expand that you gonna need to spend another 100$, which is already the price of another non-pro iPhone which is a way complete package, iPhone SE is a scam

I am using an OLED panel since 2015 and that too with an under $150 phone (Inflation adjusted).

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2024Let's hear from our tech nerds here at GSMArena: &q... moreNormally I’d agree that people who refuse to buy a phone that doesn’t have niche features and then complain about it on every product page are annoying, but oleds are genuinely an accessibility concern for a lot of people who are pwm sensitive, and I think it’s important that more companies listen to them

I really hope that Apple has some way to make sure that people who are pwm sensitive can still use it without having headaches or eye strain. iPhones tend to have more accessibility options than phones from other companies, and it would be really disappointing if Apple didn’t make accessibility settings, use a different type of oled panel, or keep selling the iPhone SE 3.

I bet $1000 that this iPhone SE 4 will be in a museum before it can be used properly. The cheap version of the iPhone will usually be sold out in 2-3 years instead of lasting until 2031, which is really unreasonable iPhone marketing. Accepted by beginners with the belief that the iPhone branding beats the progress of Android phones

And most of the Chinese brands are paying attention to pwm flicker so you can go OnePlus and not deal with the eyestrain.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2024Or eyestrain.Or green lines. Or black splots at the edges. Or color-tinting off-axis. There’s still a lot to be achieved in display tech even though it feels to me like we already live in sci-fi.

"which will hurt Japan Display and Sharp, as they were the suppliers for those and neither makes OLED panels for phones".
doesn't Sharp make its own OLED panels for phones like the Aquos R7s and R8s Pro?

IPS LCD may leave the iPhone lineup for now, but it will forever stay in our hearts. Here‘s to the next display technology that will replace OLED, hopefully without burn-in or black smear.

PureOS, 03 Sep 2024Bad news, especially for people sensitive to bad pwm dimmin... moreAt least OLED usually don't use temporal dithering like most of LCD displays. PWM can be bearable but not temporal dithering (used to simulate extra color than the panel is capable of. Example showing 8 bit colours on a 6 bit display).
