Qualcomm's new 8-core Snapdragon X Plus will drive laptop prices further down

I'm definitely waiting for 8-core X Plus laptops/tablets to arrive. I don't deny 10-core X Plus and 12-core X Elite will offer much better performance than this, but this is still good enough for everyday office use. Also, software developers needs to get more serious about native ARM64 development. Not everyone like macOS.

ARM is superior if you consider power usage too. However you can't ignore windows. Whatever they do, its never gonna be a success if windows implementation is bad.

I habe a personal macbooks pro and a office windows laptop. Imho, windows is more versatile OS but mac is a smoother machine (albeit considering use case).
Lets see how good the next generation intel turns into.

M1 worked because Intel was so behind when the switch happened, but now Intel and AMD mostly caught up. Don't see the point of windows on ARM now.

Really don't see the point of these laptops either. $800-1000 for a pretty basic windows laptop with poor software support? Surely you'll be better off by just buying a Macbook or a x86 Windows laptop instead. Especially now that much more efficient intel chips are hitting the market
DoA products imo

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2024There are many ifs and buts with these chips, but if you do... moreIf you mostly only use the browser then a $200 Chromebook is enough. Why would someone waste $1000++ on an ARM laptop? Their batteries don't even last that much.

This is a mistake. They should have used this chip for tablets only. Why are they using this in laptops?

So, 1000usd for a laptop that has an exceedingly half baked windows implementation, and now the horrendous gpu performance is about to get cut in half? What is Qualcomm actually smoking?
