Weekly poll: is the Honor Magic V3 the right foldable for you?

08 September 2024
The phone phone is thin and light - not just for a foldable, but even when compared to other flagships. And it is quite tough, as we ourselves have tested.

GAMIR3DH, 08 Sep 2024Call me Samsung fanboy, but i would rather get a Z Fold 6.I rather get Vivo fold 3 pro or OnePlus open over Samsung fold

PepperPot, 08 Sep 2024Most people here won't buy the V3, but it gives them a... morewhat's wrong with that? If they were hating on Samsung for the sake of hating then yeah, that's bad. But if it's actual, good criticism, what's wrong in that? Or is Samsung just 10/10 perfect and everyone else sucks?

You guys really love clowning on other Chinese phones and Apple phones but don't like it at all when someone clowns on your fav manufacturers. Just because i don't buy a phone doesn't mean i can't understand its merits what are you on about it's like saying I can't respect a war veteran cus i haven't been in a war or something. You just want to be able to complain about others without having any of that directed at you, you're all like kids. Grow up.

Darth Caesium, 08 Sep 2024If you want to see more stable software, then I suggest you... moreHyperOS isn't exactly laggy but sorta buggy. It has micro stutters and the main problem is launch day bugginess. The phones which suffer the most are midrangers, flagships and especially the chinese ones. The only one that seems to be exempt from most issues is the Xiaomi 14 Ultra lol, I haven't heard much complaints from it.

Besides, bugs and stuff are prevalent in all devices, idk how someone in good faith can say Samsung or Apple don't have bugs. Even my mum noticed bugs on her iPhones, if people are more gullible than her then LOL

Core, 08 Sep 2024The V3 literally has dex with a different name "AFAIK Honor also has a dex alternative, not too sure tho."

I literally said this as well, I just wasn't sure.

I bought Vivo xfold 3 pro as it's cheaper and has very high tech hardware and software

David 040882, 08 Sep 2024Nah, I can see your point. Samsung's better-optimized ... moreI wouldn't necessarily say Vivo has the better software, smoother? Maybe, but not necessarily better. Oneplus/Oppo solos the Samsung foldable software. Only people who need a stylus/dex are gonna want to stick with Samsung.

Personally, Samsung dex is overrated, it's just a glorified screen mirroring thing. It's not like you get to use desktop apps, just desktop looking versions of android apps. Screen mirroring is possible on most android flagships afaik so lack of samsung dex is no issue for me. AFAIK Honor also has a dex alternative, not too sure tho.

Also, Honor has stylus support, yes, but i don't see any official stylus cases for the phone, so that makes it a no-go for 90% of stylus users, no one wants to carry it in their pockets unless it's a tablet or something in which case they carry it in their bags.

Just my opinion, 08 Sep 2024I'm curious why you'd choose the Z Fold over the ... moresignificant is a very VERY subjective thing. It's only slightly better objectively, and if that difference is significant or not is entirely subjective.

One thing's for sure, Honor's videography is wack. If you don't do videography, then Honor's easily better.

Most people here won't buy the V3, but it gives them another opportunity to take a shot at Samsung. That purpose is more important to them than a purchase.

GAMIR3DH, 08 Sep 2024I tried a Xiaomi and not only i missed features i liked in ... moreIf you want to see more stable software, then I suggest you look into international variants of Vivo phones, which have Funtouch OS. Funtouch OS is basically a few customisations over stock UI, so it's a very similar approach to Pixel UI. It may not look absolutely gorgeous (though personally, although I hate flat, minimalistic UI design, there are things I really like about Pixel UI), but it's at least rock solid and very fast and responsive.

Of course, it's all down to preferences, I myself went from a Samsung Galaxy to a Google Pixel partially because of how much I hated OneUI. Still, MIUI and now even HyperOS does generally get clowned upon by even Xiaomi fans due to how laggy and buggy it is, and also has some strange UI and UX decisions that definitely don't help.

Their fans are positioning Honor, Vivo and one plus as some kind of high class brand when it's not. €2000 for Honor phone is a very very risky purchase. You should not pay more than $200 for these brands.

I know, its a Xiaomi and not a OnePlus or Honor. But i don't really want to be messing around anymore, i need a device that i can rely on, iPhones aren't that either since i miss most featuees and it doesn't let me change stuff.
