Yep its the same pattern as with every other manufacturer.

Something different,
Something new,
Somewhat decent specs,
With a terrible CPU.

atleast provide 5 os & security updates as linux kernel support it.

I would prefer this over the CMF, I think the design, form, and function are clearly better except for that minor issue where they got a shipping crate full of Snapdragon 4s at a garage sale to use in this thing. What a blunder.

Everything seems going in right direction except the SOC. For the price & user base, SD6x is expected

Azu10157, 05 Sep 2024If you want a budget phone with OLED go buy an old flagship... moreHow is old flagship a budget phone ? It's just old phone. There is already budget phones with AMOLED. LCD is practically only on the entry level now.

Nobody in their right mind would say budget phone to something 3 plus years old phones that finally have their price dropped to the point of budget phones. 3 plus years old phone is not better then buy a bit less performance hardware new phone for the same price

Also the people who complain about their eyes get dry or something cause of the AMOLED is also very minority of the market. Just so you know that it's already a really minority as people complain about things in forums or social media. It's like maybe 10% of the market population that go to the internet to talk about tech.

Majority of the tech sites i go to dont have any comments on articles and some dont even have comments section. This site is practically only one in my favorite list that actually have people talking in comments.

DashF, 05 Sep 2024They could have atleast gone for 6 gen 1 or bette processor... moreI don't mind the display since HD+ resolution and 5000mAh battery should give excellent battery life. But I do also think this phone can make do with a faster SoC.

KondriX, 05 Sep 2024While I agree on depth sensor, I for example prefer LCD ove... moreSame for me. I never had any problem with LCD panels to this day. I can't say the same with the AMOLED display.

It's great to see the Pogo pin at the back again since it totally reminds me of Motorola Moto Mods. But SD 4 Gen 2? I'm not sure about it. That is a huge missed opportunity since it's basically a 4nm version of SD 4 Gen 1 with a gimped-down GPU. SD 6 Gen 1 should be a better option given that the publicity photo shows an external gamepad. I don't even mind HMD going for MediaTek.

earworm, 05 Sep 2024I'll give them credit, at least they're doing som... moreI am curious as to how this will turn out once it releases, and the kind of accessories people will come up with this (and if they're going to be effective in the first place)

If it does turn out well, I hope they won't give up on this and improve upon it especially the base phone specs

In International market, HMD had launched multiple new phones with different specifications and price tag. They are also providing 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of Security updates to all these phones.
In India, so far, they had launched only two phones, HMD Crest and HMD Crest Max with Unisoc Chipset. They are providing only two years of quarterly Security updates and NO OS updates to these phones. Do they consider India as a dumping ground for their low end e-waste? Why they are not launching other new phones in India?

Taking inspiration from CMF Phone 1, I see?

Anyway, priced too close to it. Just get the CMF.

And as usual the battery is the only part in the smartphone world that doesn't get "modular"

Should've made this a higher end phone. It's competing with the cmf phone right now but nothing has a lot of momentum behind them right now.
