FarFan, 10 Sep 20241) Make a massive downgrade to 5 series. Stop selling it in... moreThey literally even got rid of the variable telephoto from the 5 series, and gave it a meh 2.5× telephoto, only to then get rid of the telephoto entirely. The variable telephoto was a big part of the appeal, and Sony just completely screwed the 5 series up by removing it.

They should try releasing any phones at all in the US again.

Humter, 10 Sep 2024they should release the 5, the 1 is too expensive and the 1... moreThe 10 V's price point is great, but its hardware hardly fits the price range. If Motorola can release the Edge 50 Neo for around the same price and have a 120Hz LTPO OLED display with 3000 nits of peak brightness, with a camera setup largely identical to the Samsung Galaxy S24 (including the same telephoto setup with the same 3× zoom and the same 10MP sensor) that is twice as expensive as it, then Sony can do so much better.
I'm not asking for all the bells and whistles like with Motorola's phone, but even just having a competent main, ultrawide and selfie camera setup as well as a somewhat bright 120Hz OLED display and a competent chipset like the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3/Dimensity 7300 would do it wonders. At present, this phone is ridiculously disappointing for its price class, it's even worse than anything Samsung's cooking at this price. Only Apple's iPhone SE 4 that will probably launch in 2025 will fare worse, and that one will still have a better selfie camera and a brightish OLED display.

1) Make a massive downgrade to 5 series. Stop selling it in US.
2) Users are dumping it.
3) Call it "change in consumers’ buying habits"
...
10) Stop selling phones
I'm disappointed as user of 5 III

Probably for the best. The 5V had worse bezels than the 5IV and bad color shift.

All the 4 of them ( oppo, vivo, xiaomi, huawei) will not even reach 400.000 units before next generation is announced.

Good, there was no need for them downgrading the 5 series even more, just end it and focus on the 1 series.

If there would be promise for extra 5 year security updates for 5v, I would buy one. Now it is only 2 years left.
Not having them I was waiting for 5vi to securely use it for next 3+ years.
Now it seems that I will need to look for some other brand.
Can't understand how one can buy phone without security update guarantee if now so many personal and financial information is used with the phone.

I said months ago it was canceled.
Sales ratio between 1 and 5 was never close to 1:1.
1 series was always far more popular.
