It only has a single 10.2” screen that can fold in two. And the unique tech does come at a price.

        The DESIGN is messed up, they first do all kind of efforts to make the three parts extremely thin, only to cover a third(?) of the area of one part with a huge hump.

        It is like hanging a trailer on a Ferrari...

        They COULD have extended this hump to cover the whole side part of the phone, e.g. using the space for a large battery. That way it could have looked nice completely folded, and unfolded once. (and even fully unfolded would be less less bad than now)

        What they presented is a design-mess in all three positions....

        (But sure any device with a camera need some space to house it, that is so bleeding obvious it seems strange you felt the need to point it out)

          We've got quite a few foldables now on the market and yes they are expensive but the thing I struggled with the most is that when opened you don't gain that much screen real estate when it comes to watching youtube/movies etc. For reading I guess there's a definite benefit.

          Huawei just solved that problem. Folded its a smartphone, open its a tablet. Yes this is expensive and most of us aren't going to buy it but you have to give Huawei props for creating this and just keeping the innovation alive.

                  "The" ultimate "I feel important" device as maybe 10 percent of buyers will have an effective need an use for such a format (I get it, a real table format and phone in one so for business on the go it's ideal). The rest will buy it for the "I want to be seen" or "I want to belong" reasons. Poor us, poor humans.

                    I'll wait for version 2 to get it after they refined it more.

                    Huawei is gonna be expensive because the company's goal is to showcase the latest tech China can produce. XT is a halo product

                          Been waiting for a trifold phone like that. The current dual-fold ones become a square tablet after unfolding, which isn't great for multimedia (huge black bars on top & bottom). This trifold design basically turns a phone into the much better multimedia tablet in a second, which would be a boon while traveling. Huawei has been producing top-notch devices since at least 2018. It's really sad that the USA couldn't handle competition & had to resort to dirty tricks to deal with it.

                            Damn !!!
                            THIS would have been my next phone/foldable/tablet :-)
                            BUT, that is a HELL of a lt of spondooliks to shed out :-(

I don't care about updates or anything I can root a phone and flash stuff if need be, but what I care about the most is the battery. I've used phones for a while and all of them become pretty terrible after 2 years. Repair costs are usually extremely high, the repairmen aren't available near me or the repair seems extremely shady. So I prefer to just sell the phone and get a new one.

                                  I completely understand that thinner phones would be better but at 12.6 mm for a tri-fold? I don't really mind it at all. I'd be too happy about the fact that I can use it in a larger form factor to care. Thinness is a nice to have, battery is a necessity. I stay outside from morning till night, i don't have the luxury of being able to use fast charge all that much. I always prefer better battery life. Thankfully, Vivo and others are getting there, their optimization is top notch and their charging is like 2x faster than Scamsung or something so yeah there's that.

                                  Like I don't want thinness as a compromise to battery. If they can cram more battery AND make it thin then well, HOLY MOLY lol
