vrvly, 29 Sep 2024Flip phone is new mini, unless someone tries to turn back time...Flip phone is not real mini. The point is phones are too big to use in the hand for many people, not in the pocket. Flip phones are too big to use in hand when open. Being smaller when folded in the pocket doesnt change that.

Not sure...by solely looking at the Sensor size I am dissapointed, sounds like a downgrade. Sony is compensating the downgrade of sensor size with all these gimmicks, which I am not too sure how it will work out. Gonna wait for another month and see the actual thing in action before deciding if I gonna get the x100 pro or x200 pro...But I really hope for a 1 inch sensor for my next phone, upgrading from my beloved current 1/2 inch sensor x60 pro, which to be honest, already a beast in Still Photography

LYT-818 is, from what I could tell from Sony's description, an impressive sensor with cutting-edge technologies and performance despite not using the 2-layer transistor design.

Its triple conversion gain HDR is something that has never been seen on any other sensors (including those from Omnivision or Samsung), and the new sensor also boasts the lowest read noise among all the mobile image sensors in the market - This is huge because it implies the noise floor is even lower than that of the two-layer LYT-T808 or the much larger LYT-900.

I'm glad to know that Vivo is testing the water with their flagships, hopefully these features will propagate to larger type 1 or even MFT sensors that Sony could end up making in future.

I still haven't found a decent replacement to my beloved Nokia 8 with its compact dimensions and exceptional build quality. The only choice we have is simply voting with our wallet by refusing to purchase any phone, unless they care about consumers and their preferences.

My logic is that manufacturers should offer options for people with different preferences.

              This going to be same.
Soon or later all companies will ditch small phones for good and start selling bigger ones.
Soon i really believe an 7-8 inch phoes will be a norm and everybody will use that.

Anonymous, 25 Sep 2024They should ask Apple what happened to the iPhone Mini series. The series that sold better than the iPhone Plus series?

I could type fine on iPhone mini, I can't type fine on a larger phone than that. I can see the screen of an iPhone mini fine, I don't need a bigger screen. Therefore, using your logic, a bigger phone than the iPhone mini is useless.

^me when I lie. you realize shipment numbers are public and easily searchable right? Samsung sold 258 MILLION units in 2022 (when it launched the S22 series, which the S22 line makes the bulk of that.) Apple absolutely, in no way and in no reality, sold more than 258 MILLION iPhone minis, even when you combine 12 & 13 mini sales.

Why not give the X200 Pro the X200 footprint and then give us an X200 Pro+ to be the big X200 Pro?

What the heck will you do with all that performance from 8gen4 ?? As even 8gen4 is not out with any phones yet so what to talk even of the 8g5 you talk about.

For one handed use the phone size be nice of that Nokia 808 but performance be enough with something like 7s gen 2 or D7xxx

You basically want something that would cost 2000 euro with all these specs for mini phone what wont ever be used to play games that ask good hardware and for sure they wont do something like have 3.5mm jack and sd cards slot with some sick cooling system you want also. There is not enough space or camber for it

If it doesn't fit in your pocket and you can't use it with one hand, comfortably, it isn't compact.
Everyone look up the Unihertz Jelly Max and explain what we can't have one of those made by Samsung, Motorola, etc. There's more of market for it than there is a $3000 USD bi-crease foldable, but we have one and not the other.

I want a small but powerful (flagship specs) phone. I'm currently using the Zenfone 10 and before it, used the Samsung Note 10. My ideal design would be the Z60 Ultra but in a "small" form factor of say, 6.1" to 6.3".

I'll gladly pay £2000 for a phone with a totally rectangular feel (no curves) with a 6.1" to 6.3" size and with the SD4, at least 16gb, at least 512gb ROM etc.
