I'm starting to wonder what type of phone I will have by the time I purchase another phone; I purchase phone every two years (I'm sure its pretty much the same for most people), so by the time I purchase another phone it will be April 2015, LOL.

Though to be honest, I'd love to have a phone that can display 3d holographic projections, much like the ones in star wars LOL.

Shoaib, 28 Jul 2013You are comparing desktop resolution with video resolution...Of course the desktop resolution my friend.
In 2003(10 years back) pc window(win XP) already can set higher than 1080 resolution.
So nothing surprise with 1080p in smartphone by today
          mobile TECH.

[deleted post]Do you even know what you are talking about?
iPhone 5 has a resolution of 727,040 pixels.
HTC One, Galaxy S4 have a resolution of 2,073,600 pixels. That's nearly 3 times the resolution of iPhone 5. So it needs more processing power to work smoothly.

[deleted post]Android only needs decent GPU, and SINGLE CORE cpu, to run without any lags, when you think about UI shuttering or lags its all because most modern SOCs underclock when they arent heavily used, so SGS4 is usually @200 MHz or 400MHz when you are using UI which is too low for touchwiz, stock android on the other hand is smooth even with single core hummingbird clocked @ 400MHz... Atleast as long as GPU isn't underclocked too drastically.

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2013The display's size and portability and resolution are great... morei agree with you there, even when now you can connect mouse and keyboard to a phone, there are still things pc are way better than phones; it is my guessing that we will have em both for a long time, since for me it is more like a compliment, the way i see it and use them my phone would not be what it is without my pc and my pc wouldn't be what it is without my phone, each have things on their own, and also, even if they made a 16 core processor they still need to fully upgrade the phone's OS so it can use the full potential of such processor, now days we barely use 2 out the 4core on a processor.
nevertheless this is a nice thing happening

My 3 year old sandy bridge is 99% the same and if I over clock it's better. Sure GPUs are getting better but who gives a crap, most people don't care for anything more than angry birds and if you care more than that go buy a console FFS and leave us alone.

I'm serious by 2020 my phone would be more powerful than my PC when I would dock it to my monitor as a result of the fierce competition on arm processors. X86 processors are as shitty as the average laptop/PC thanks to Intel and their aversion to innovation (and generally being incompetent failures)...

Their OSes are optimised for mice not touchscreens and mobile OSes fail at this badly. That's why computers of today are all but irreplaceable: they're much more efficient and user-friendly in general use.

"@pcsux" you mean to say that a current pc is the same a 2010 pc, but then, why cant most people run games like NFS most wanted 2012 on a 2010 computer?, and if they manage to make it run it is completely unplayable.
the latest Sony vegas wont run very well on a 2010 computer, also you seem to rely on CPU only, and that is not wise at all since you can have an AMD A10 or an intel i7 on a computer with 2GB ram and just an integrated video card of 512 MB, and then you wouldn't even be able to run windows 8 very well, or windows 7's aero, so you would actually be having a "shitty" PC, perhaps that's your current problem and that is why you mad about PCs, please go and instruct yourself a little before making any statement.
                                  now..
"@anonymous" you mean to say that a 5" screen capable of display a 1920 x 1080 resolution is crappy?
you mean to say that an OS of a device that is merely 5" or 6" and weights less than 200gms that's being able to do almost EVERYTHING you do on an OS of a device that is at least 15" and usually weights more than 7 lbs is crappy?

you are evidently a troll trying to upset people on the page, this comment of yours shows how small your knowledge on programing and software development is, please go and upset people on other sites, i believe you will have quite good luck on apple, or samsung related sites, nokia users are getting touchy too but not that much yet, so please refrain to show your intelligence level in public.

on the processor itself, this is good news, but we need it to be very affordable, so we will have applications that actually use such power, i been able to run dreamcast and wii emulators on a quad core device but those merely use 2 of the 4 core processing, also the browsing barely uses 2 core power, and this is due to other devices still with low specs processors, i also hope this opens the way for a 8GB ram phone or even 16GB, now sandisk/samsung/kingston .. etc will have to push themselves to make a 2TB micro sd card available within the next 24 months!
