18% lower that the current Mediatek Quadcore SoC which is already very power efficient, consumers less power that all quadcore offered by samsung, qualcomm etc.

It is true that dual core CPUs should be more than enough, just look at iOS, an almost perfectly engineered operating system, even Windows Phone OS isnt as resource hungry as Android, and is buttery smooth on dual core. Unfortunately, I'm using Android solely because Sony only came up with a prototype Windows Phone device that wasn't released. Its great that it has a huge number of a wide variety of applications though.

It's cool to have options, MTK sale their fairly cheaper making the Smartphones affordable. Imagine without them phones would only be for Rich.
I have an Oppo phone powered by MTK Chip, it's perfect in every way and I only got it for $255

I hope for the best for MTK. I like their processors used in some quad core phones. Though they are not the best performer, the fact that it the phones are able to perform what other quadcore phones with Qualcomm can do. MTK are also more battery friendly than its rivals like Nvidia, Samsung, Intel and Qualcomm. Hope that MTK's octa cores can be clocked up to at least 2 GHz and I believe a lot of OEMs may tie up with them.

15 to 20 years? Remember that 4 years nobody dreamed of HD(720p) displays on phones, now we have 1080p. Technology is developing faster and fast, it will not take 15-20 years. I'd say 4-5 at max.

[deleted post]You sure you are feeling fine? I can't even imagine playing heavy graphical games on a "Smartphone". These are still "Phones". Why not let it function like a "Phone" instead of trying to do heavy tasks designed for bigger screen like games?

Mediatek, you have the mind and capability. Why don't upgrade your single core which perform at par with other octa-core processors? I would really like to hear the outcome.

[deleted post]The reason no one cared about Sammy's octa core is because it's just marketing BS. It's not a octa core. It's nothing more than a quad core.

Not that numer of cores matters at all.
