Also I think the stock JB rom runs quite good to be honest, i think it runs better than previous roms if i recall correctly. though not as smooth as custom roms.

and installing a custom rom isn't that hard either. There are step by step tutorials and videos on youtube on how to do it. though I get your point. not everyone wants to void their warranty risking a brick or have the time and equip to do that.

AnonD-147044, 28 Jul 2013That's because your wife is running a touchwiz rom. Install... moreThat is the point. She really need to do that? Even if she don't know a thing of ROOT, ROMS and CMW?

This is not nice for unskilled users, its supposed to work fine on STOCK ROM. This not good for non-geek users either. She wants her phone running nice out-the box (its supposed to work that way isn't?), but every update is making the phone heavier an heavier. Jelly Bean update is nice BUT hast some issues to be fixed.

She (among others) stills believes Android is just for geeks. I don't blame Android at all. But every update I see will be released with the next powerful device on market, so, this is from two ways fault. Manufacturers and Google-Android.

It works great and after upgrading to 4.2.2, it works even smooth like butter. I dnt know why people need Octacore. Though I think iOS and Windows 8 runs very smooth in Dual Core too.

Really the difference is huge. You don't even need a JB custom rom, install ICS/GB or whatever and it just won't lag anymore. It's all because of Samsung's touchwiz. the iOS UI and windows phone UI are light compared to it.

I cant be blind on that. The One X runs smooth but not the Samsung. And she don't have that many apps to lag.

I believe people don't really need 8 cores, Krait 2-cored one runs just fine. BUT Every update they release, they made the Android OS heavier and heavier. So sooner or later, I see we will need this, if they still making this madness.

I see this is for marketing and sales NOT for user benefit.

The reason why android seems to run so bad nowadays is because the manufacturers are bloating the UI (touchwiz, sense, etc.). Android nowadays runs fairly well if you ask me. And who the hell said that this processor will only be available in android devices? And if you would've read the actual article then you would've understood that twice the cores doesn't equal twice the processing power, since it only seems to use 1 core for each browser tab so it's basically like a dual core when you browse...

So Android needs 8 cores and my old Win7 PC needs 2. Android getting 3 GB RAM from Samsung's latest process, and my old PC can do more on 2 GB. Even iphone's tiny dual core matches Android's quad cores for gaming.

Sounds like alot of salesman BS to me

Allocating individual browser tabs to individual cores? Seriously? Who is browsing multiple tabs simultanously? You're loading them up at the same time at best, but you can only browse one at a time so this sounds pretty useless to me. Would be better if the processor could use ALL cores for one tab for maximum performance.

Modern phones have the same capabilities as a 2006 PC, so they're 7 years behind, *but* CPUs stopped developing in 2010 (ever since sandy bridge Intel produces the same CPU in different packages), so by 2018 mobiles will have the same power as PCs and by 2020s they will supersede it.

PCs are a joke due to Intel's monopoly, mobiles are interesting because there is competition. I say good riddance shit PCs...
