8 core in mobile a joke...even pc i7 quad core already saturated and already reach its highest peak for today fastest processor.
No. Of core is not important...just a selling point to interact fanboy and sheep buyer..obsessed on buying new phone.
A mobile tech to reach on par with pc x86 cpu will need to take another 20 to30 years to archive.
Mobile tech is long lonnnng way to go compare desktop tech.

Samgung- No innovation. Just increasing screen size and cores. Though they provide so called Octacore in SGS4, it is utilizing just 4 cores. So misleading.

AnonD-160624, 28 Jul 2013Yes, with these processors computers will see their demise ... moreDon't get your hopes up. Phones may first reach the performance of pc's in 15 to 20 years. Even a phone with a processor that actually uses all eight cores, it is still slower than an average modern i5 processor that is only a quad core and does not use hyperthreading. If you would have clocked the two processors to the same frequency the pc CPU would still be superior. Remember that all cores are not made equally. Enthusiast want there multi-GPU and even sometimes dual-CPU setups, raid arrays, etc. I don't see that phones will have that customisability in a long time. I don't think that I (or any other pc enthusiast) will be using a phone in the place of my pc case any time soon.

This ,"who has more" approach is very strange. My PC which has 2x 2.3GHz, 4GB RAM runs more smoothly (OS with bigger sysrq and generally, bigger in size!) than Quad or today's 8-core CPUs. They are maybe smaller and they don't use that much energy, but something is very wrong here...

Smartphones (Apple, Android devices and Windows Mobile devices) become more optimized and powerful with their specs, but that comparament in specs, with regular PC is wrong. Stronger Exynos is slower and more laggable then good-old Core2Duo?

If your only using 1 core and not noticing a difference it's probably because your not pushing the S2 hard enough!

My old laptop running on Intel Core 2 Duo, Win 7, 2GB RAM, still doing a reasonably smooth job.

I am no techy, but I think some people are ignoring effective utilization of resources.

Yes, with these processors computers will see their demise quite soon. We already have Ubuntu Edge, that's going to be given to the people, who donated enough into the project. That phone will be the first smartphone-computer.

What doy ou need so many cores on a freakin mobile phone? I have a SGS2 and even with it i have only 1 core active to save power. Can't really say i notice any difference in smoothness. So why the hell would you need 8 cores!? On desktop system, fair enough, people encode HD videos that are several gigabytes in size and can take hours to convert or compiling programs that also takes hours on high end systems. Or compressing gigabytes or even terabytes of data into archive. None of it even possible on a phone because battery will go flat before the CPU will even have the chance to process anything as intensive. I'd much rather see they go on the other extreme, keep current quads and go all mental on the power consumption. It's what is the biggest problem anyway these days. Or make the damn batteries better. Current ones just can't possibly keep up with all the power hungry hardware...

But it was dual quad-core processing, not all core working together.
                                    And work separately as quad-core.
A15 for high performance and A7 for Lower power
While this Mediatek processor said to be all 8-core work together in the process not work separately like Exynoos.
But it performance should competitive with Exynos high performance mode as it got 8 A7 Core in multi-tasking.
