The chinese brands that don't make compact phones, the only 2024 competitors to vanilla S models is normal sized iPhone and maybe the Pixel 9.

Pretty sure what he said is just a hypothetical future of Samsung considering Samsung has been lazy for a few years already. People making fun of Apple for no innovation while Samsung have none innovation on S24U aside from anti reflective screen and upgrading the 2nd telephoto sensor while downgrading the focal length (10x→5x).
Samsung has been doing terrible strategy by ditching base model of Tab S10 series. If they really kill S26 base model, they are stupid as hell. They are giving free money to iPhone 17 and Pixel 10 Pro.

There is no big loss for us customers because Samsung devices are much too expensive compared to the competition and in many aspects they lag behind.
Nowadays every phone in the price range of 700/1000 EUR takes very similar photos so the argument of a good camera is pointless and in other aspects Samsung tries to defend itself with IA but many of us just don't care and the rest of the missing applications from the Samsung ecosystem can be easily replaced.

So unless they're reintroducing the A5 series in North America they'll have abandoned everything between $200 and $1000 in that market.
