Samsung Galaxy A56 benchmark results reveal Exynos 1580's faster CPU and new RDNA GPU

02 October 2024
"Faster" as in clock speed, anyway, we don't actually know what the CPU cores are used in the new chipset. But we do know that it will have a next-gen GPU.

Kangal, 03 Oct 2024You might be right. To me it looks like: Samsung 4nm 1x C... moreX3 is a generation older than A720 and is usually paired with A715. Also X3 at 2.9Ghz would yield a single-core score above 1500. Exynos 1x80 series has never had an X core till now, and I doubt they will be starting now.

Even a 4xA720 is a decent upgrade for one generation (in mid-range). Maybe once the high-end Exynos starts using 2 or more high-performance cores, then we might see the mid-range getting one high-performance core as well.

Soc which don't have X cores and have realistic clocks tend to sustain 90+% of perfomance while soc like 7+ gen 3 barely sustain 60% of perfomance, so if you take 90% of 3500 and 60% of 5000 perfomance are close to each other.

If Samsung A56 come with 512GB storage this is will be game changer 🥲sadly Samsung doesn't care about it, better pick FE series than this

SD 7 gen 1? I wrote that the SD 7 plus gen 3 is a mid-range chip for 2024, compared to which the Exynos 1480 is definitely an entry-level chip.

What you see Antutu or Geekbench are scores which consume 17W, no phone can sustain that power, in real life phone sustain around 5W or at best 7W if it's something like gaming phone.

At 5W many phones are almost same.

Most of time difference between flagship and midrange is GPU and burst perfomance.

The Samsung S24+ was near perfect.
In weight, size, design, and ergonomics. Heck I didn't even mind the price.

                        Where they went wrong was:
No root access, Exynos chipset, and Side-grade Cameras.
If it had the S23U Cameras, QC 8g3 chipset, and a way to root it (xda is barren) then it would have killed the Pixel 8Pro and Pixel 9XL.

The S23U/S24U are too sharp, too wide, too tall, and way too heavy. The software support is great, but lack of root really hurts it for enthusiasts. A phone must be greater than the sum of its parts. Otherwise, people should get an iPhone.

                            3x Cortex-A720
                            5x Cortex-A520
                            Cutdown AMD iGPU

Something that might be ahead of the QC 7g2+ and QC 8g1+, and slightly behind the QC 8g2. Which is good. And it puts this $500 Samsung, as nearly competitive against the $2,000 Google Pixel 9 phones performance/feature/efficiency wise.

Why would Samsung go for such an upgrade? Perhaps the next year's Flagship MediaTek, Exynos, and Snapdragon are just that much more powerful. It is exciting to think about.

Seems to me like it is a cut-down version of Exynos 2400/2400e. Specs for the aforementioned processors are:

                                    1 Cortex-X4 @3.2/3.1 Ghz
                                    2 Cortex-A720 @2.9 Ghz
                                    3 Cortex-A720 @2.6 Ghz
                                    4 Cortex-A520 @1.95 Ghz

Remove the Cortex-X4 core as well as one of the higher clocked A720 core, and the specs and performance numbers would closely correspond to the info we have for Exynos 1580.

Meanwhile, the Chinese will just blast 80 different model names from 3 sub-brands in your face, some of which are just rebrands from another sub-brand or even from the same sub-brand, with some appearing to have a successor but then that successor is actually not a straight upgrade but it has some upgrades and also some downgrades and at that point it becomes difficult for even an expert to understand all the different models and that nonsense. (For Samsung, if you keep out the M/F series out of the equation and just look at A and S series, it‘s easy because every one covers a specific price point)
