The Theft Detection Lock is particularly interesting.

I don't really care if my data goes to China. I don't live in China and there's nothing they can do to me. Google on the other hand can sell my data, use it to train their AIs and disclose it to various governments around the world, which is exactly what they've been doing. I'm more worried about Google stealing my data.

          You're simply a xenophobic know-nothing.

I had a few Chinese friends in my youth and I have nothing personal against China. I even eat Chinese/Thai/Vietnamese food more than once a week actually.

I don't want anyone to collect my data, but if I must choose between China and Google, I much rather let Google have it, because I'm getting all their services "for free", whereas the Chinese are outright STEALING my data!

Anonymous, 07 Oct 2024Right, HarmonyOS here I come!I don't think you can find a safe platform anywhere in the world. HarmonyOS opens your phone to servers in China. They also collect your data and you can't prevent them from doing so.

All the remote stuff is useless if you can turn off the phone even when being locked. Only Pixel and Apple allows this, everybody else you have to put the Pin before turning it off increasing the chance of tracking and doing things remotely.
