it's just money transfer and users could get hurt more at the end. (more spend & less secure no privacy plus data collection share without consent).

google should update and more strict their policy and make clear about data collection by apps.

abput 3rd party apps and stores (they should not allow on google play store, rather if someone wants it they can flash their device and do whatever they

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2024You're right. I'm amazed at all the kiddos here t... moreNo, this is in fact great and how it always should have been.

Finally Google gets rightfully punished for their monopolistic behavior. Also, with third party app stores having access to the entire catalog of apps that is in the Play store, your shouldn't be too worried about malicious apps. It's not like other app stores don't check apps at all.

A malicoius app store would rightfully be removed from google play. . .

Nobody forces you to opt for a different app store. If want to stick to google play then go right ahead. Others are free to choose different ones that will likely compete with lower prices due to lower app tax. If enough people do, then google will also have to compete and lower their app tax.

This is a massive win for consumers. At least the tech-savvy ones. The rest will likely keep using google play as always.

God bless Epic games, we love you.

Idiotli, 08 Oct 2024My question is why does not this very law applies to iOS?LMFAO…thousands of OEMs use OPEN SOURCED Android, vs ONE iOS company. Oh dear, gotta love Fandroid’s logic here. EU forcing iOS to open up is not even in the same league as this Google mess.

That's a big win for Android phone owners.
            Suck to be iPhone owner.

Idiotli, 08 Oct 2024My question is why does not this very law applies to iOS?Because that's not how law works. Apple isn't a party to the lawsuit and Epic sued Google, not the government.

Idiotli, 08 Oct 2024My question is why does not this very law applies to iOS?The short answer is that it really should. The longer answer is that Google did a lot of things that came out in discovery, such as paying Android OEMs to solely use the Google Play Store. There wasn't any such scheme in the Apple lawsuit because Apple already is the only source of iOS apps. That's just one example, but there were many other of Google playing nasty (read: engaging in anti-competitive behavior) behind the scenes.

if the court can force google to do that then the court must force all the independent app store to provide top level security eg making sure apps are safe to download & not malware infested bunch of crap.
