What for benchmark results, actual review and usage before you all cry!
Anyway, I love Mediatek. They're not overpriced compared to Snapdragon in my opinion.

RM Gamer, 09 Oct 2024Let's get technical here, this is just basically the D... moreTypical half blind person looking at CPU cores architecture, look at the hole package and wait for benchmarks. Also it's not only about CPU, but GPU got massive improvement, CPU's are already overpowered for these kind of chips but to get like 40% improvements on GPU side this is there magic happens. GPU looks nightly impressive on 9400

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2024MediaTek charges $180. Qualcomm charges $240. And they both... moreMediatek charges 150, Qualcomm 190, so thanks to Mediatek 240 price never panned out, but we badly need third player to keep prices sustainable.

GregLu, 09 Oct 2024Flagship material, congrats Mediatek! I'm hoping that... morePrice difference is very minimal. But competition is good why not.

RM Gamer, 09 Oct 2024Let's get technical here, this is just basically the D... moreThat's because you're only looking at the surface. If you look deep into its design you'll see that all the cores have DOUBLE the amount of cache from last generation (dimensity 9300), which is A HUGE CHANGE.
Dimensity 9400:
1*X925 3.62GHz, 2MB L2 cache
3*X4 3.3GHz, 1MB L2 cache
4*A720 2.4GHz, 512KB L2 cache
L3 cache 12MB
Dimensity 9300:
1*X4 3.25GHz, 1MB L2 cache
3*X4 2.85GHz, 512KB L2 cache
4*A720 2.0GHz, 256KB L2 cache
L3 cache 8MB
So in summary, we have DOUBLE the L2 cache, 50% more L3 cache, a new X925 core, way higher clock frequencies on a new 3nm node. Of course we'll have to wait for reviews to see how well it actually performs, but this is definitely not some insignificant change.

RM Gamer, 09 Oct 2024Let's get technical here, this is just basically the D... moreSo:
1) new prime core,
2) higher clocked power and efficient cores,
3) brand new gpu,
4) better node,
5) npu etc...
this is marginal?

RM Gamer, 09 Oct 2024Let's get technical here, this is just basically the D... morethe prime core is a new one AND is clocked higher than the older phones, it's clocked higher than the iPhone 14 Pro Max/the A16, that's something new.
The X4 cores are NOT the same, just having the cores isn't enough, you have to look at the clock speeds too man. the 9300 had 3x2.85 GHz Cortex-X4 and the 9400 has 3x3.3 GHz Cortex-X4. Each of these X4 cores are clocked higher than the prime core of the 9300 which was 1x3.25 Ghz.
The A720 Cores are bumped up from 2.0 Ghz in the 9300 to 2.4 Ghz on the 9400. Additionally the cache has been upped as well.
The GPU has bumped up from 1300 to 1625 Mhz, that's a huge change as well. Additionally these are newer cores.
Technically speaking, this is a HUGE upgrade and if it weren't for the node change, the SoC would've combusted.

Let's get technical here, this is just basically the DM9300 with minor improvements and better 3nm TSMC manufacturing process.
The only new thing here is it uses a new single* Prime core at X925(X5) but still uses the same cores as the previous DM9300 CPU Wise:
X925 Prime core- NEW
3x X4 cores- SAME w/ DM9300
4x A720 cores- SAME w/ DM9300
Of course a new GPU.
The claims in efficiency can be real but, performance, just by putting a new different prime core are questionable to me. We'll see on the reviews then

tbh power doesntly really matter in high end mobile cpus, companies should put way more effort into efficiency, which is improving as well i guess but im pretty sure they could do way more
wonder how 8 gen 4 will perform

Why don't use a725 ? They say it is 2 percent More efficient than a720. Also I wonder if they are making a tablet or PC oriented CPU with full x925 cores and a725 . Also 12 core gpu is disappointing in arm slides they give 14 core numbers so 9400 should be less efficient at peak performance . They aim cost performance this year i think

It is rumored that Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus might be using this chipset in most of the world besides North America and China. S25 Ultra will use Snapdragon 8 Elite in everywhere.
