to marketing, samsung should use pill shape (iPhone 16) for A16 5G (camera and include front flash into the pill shape).

it will make phone more good lokking than this 'U' shape camera notch. Also include a camera shutter/action button for bixby (option to choose any app) at same place.

        similar color options too.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2024maybe yes if it has a punch hole {for secondary}wait for a17 next year

I recently purchased a Galaxy S23 ultra which has the Snapdragon 8 gen 2. I can say. That I'm good for another 6 years. No need to change for another flagship if it's gonna be the same tech for another 6 years. Especially if it has..:
              1. Same 12GB Ram rather than 32GB of RAM.
              2. Same Camera technology. Only one will get the 200MP. The rest will like 10MP, 12MP and 50MP. Instead of All Camera's Getting 200MP. And No thermal camera.
              3. Same 1TB of Internal storage instead of 4TB.
              4. Same 5,000Mah Battery capacity instead of 8,000Mah and above.
              5. Same 1440p display with 120hz refresh rate instead of 4K display and 320hz refresh rate.
              6. No new games that is purely optimized for the latest Snapdragon Games. Mostly are pure online games.
              7. Same 6.8 inch display instead of 7 inch display.
              8. Same Speaker hardware. No Front Facing. No Snapdragon Sound. No LDAC built in.
              9. Same USB Type C 3.2 instead of 4.0 and has No Thunderbolt Support.
              10. Same Charging limit. Won't allow users with 65W adapter and above to charge their smartphone from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes. And
              11. Same Dependency on AI just to make money.

Software updates are included in the price of a smartphone. That’s why many midrange and budget phones with long software support often have weaker hardware for the pricee. You’re paying more for the updates than the hardware. However, if you don’t keep the phone until the updates end, you waste money on something you didn’t fully use, instead of paying for better hardware that you could have enjoyed more.

It would be fine if they weren't so stingy with memory. But nah they put 8 gb ram variant here with price markup so high that puts it another price segment altogether and they also disabled 4k recording on e1330 and put d6300 in some regions.

I would why not? I'm still using two old phones: xz1 compact on Android 9, and galaxy s9+ on Android 10. Both are IP68, and battery degraded according to ~75% for this 6 years according to accubattery estimate. I'd be glad to get better battery life because it's just that 2700mha and 3500mha are not great especially after these many years, and also because modern apps consume more power. So it compounds over time. The software support is only annoying thing really: banks/brokers/auth apps still work just fine, but i already see some apps dropping support unfortunately. Snapdragon 835 and exynos 9810 are still more than enough for messengers, mail, browsing, maps and other basic stuff. I don't care about much else like AI, video editing, games. There are plenty people like this. So the ultimate long lasting phone must be IP68, battery over 5000mha (to allow degradation and loss of efficiency), and good software support. So all these three things are key points for long lasting phones.

                            maybe yes if it has a punch hole {for secondary}

I would start recommending this for those on a budget. Before, I'd never recommend anything below A3x due to lack of IP rating since the Chinese OEMs do have at least IP53 or something on their cheaper models nowadays. But now it's safe to recommend the A16 for me.

As for 6 years of use, the only bottleneck is probably battery and the glue. It's well known that the Ax2 series had glue issues by 2 years or so. Hopefully Samsung either fixed this or offer cheap service to reglue the phone.

Project treble finally being implemented. Late but still welcome.

As a customer it's good to get software support as many years as possible; but in reality I think 6yrs is an overkill. As a person who uses a phone 3-5 years I see we end up with hardware issues either due to aging or misuse. Screen might get scratches/broken due to fall, bad speakers or broken/loose charging ports, bad battery life etc!! The percentage of users who uses the same phone as a daily driver beyond 4yrs might be minimal!! Those who uses beyond 5 generally don't care about software..

                                    maybe galaxy a55/56 not a0x/a1x

I mean 2 years at most if someone needs a cheap phone, but I can totally see a supported phone like this selling in a developing country, like Nigeria.

I'd buy and use it for as long as I can, if not that I'm still perfectly happy with my Galaxy A13 that I got since release.
