Apple refreshes iPad mini with A17 Pro chip, double the base storage and Wi-Fi 6E

    480hz is not high enough, but even more than frequency, iPhone (and Samsung) major issue is usually modulation, which is too wild in their panels.

    And those high PWM numbers from other manufacturers kick in at a certain low brightness threshold. I have owned a Samsung A55 and a Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. I had to return the Samsung since I was quickly affected by its terrible implementation. The Redmi is much better.

    Check PWM Sensitive on Reddit since it is a strong community about the subject, lots of info and phones tested in there.

      Its just fine .. match well with the price.

      If apple give you oled 120hz small bezel and face id, they probably will sell it at around $799-$849 or even closer $1000 with tax in some countries.

      Then some european will keep complaining about the pricing..

        I've a Samsung 120hz s23, yes it is smooth and fancy

        But my low end g99 tablet is perfect smooth at 60hz. I don't notice 60hz except if I start to overthink of it.

        And I prefer 60 hz lxd than 3824hz oled. I really see difference for my eyesight fatigue. Even LCD has backlit which is not great with UV along other things.still it's better to me.

              Certainly 8gb
              After checking, A17 pro proc is baked in 8gb. No more, no less. I doubt they'd cook a specific A17 pro for I pad mini 7. They may limit by software, reserving 4 GB for that 'apple intelligence greatness'... I'm software engineer I know how we are creative at sneaking things out...

                shame about the 60hz (and massive bezel) but its still a wonderful "small" tablet. as someone who has caused burn in in quite a few oled displays, i see ips as a positive tbqh

                  You can get a brand new iPad Air 2022 with much better display, SOC, battery, speakers etc... at discount around $400.

                    MakeMotoBetterAgain, 15 Oct 2024No oled 60hz 8bit 😂To be completely honest, Apple brings (or used to bring) some of the best LCD displays around there. Their OLED panels are not so great since they have terrible PWM.

                    Refresh rate, I give you that.

                      I assume the lack of news about the ram is bad news? If this device is 4gb ram it will be really bad. If it's 6gb would still be crippled considerably.

That processor is a... moreThe reason iPhone 15 pro and max will support Apple intelligence is not because of cpu power but because of their 8GB ram, and since the mini 7 is promised to support apple intelligence it's safe to assume it's got an 8GB of ram.

                                  was expected to downsize my daily driver from iPad Pro M1 to this iPad Mini, but sadly still no 120Hz.. no face id and last year chip could be tolerated

                                    I wonder if this A17 Pro has the new N3E node, seeing how iPad Mini isn't refreshed that much.
