US Commerce Department probing TSMC as suspected chip supplier to Huawei

18 October 2024
Under the current bans, Huawei should not be able to source chips manufactured using American equipment.

You probably think is great? While it is a flop and that ain't US fault 100% sure. And why is a flop? Because it is an expensive trash-can that breakes like fingernails and nobody is able to properly use it...yeah true innovation.

All consumers support Huawei and all their providers. The US wants to eliminate all competition until $1500 Apple phones and $2000 MacBooks are the only option for consumers. Really evil if you think about it.

Who exactly has the thinking problem?

We already know from numerous sources that the chip was produced by TSMC pre-ban in 2020. Inquiries as to whether the chip was supplied to Huawei post-ban aren't necessary and the US Commerce Department is acting like fools. And no, they wouldn't be foolish enough to sanction TSMC. They'd lose their source of cutting edge chips and, most likely, Taiwan as an ally.

The article says "US Commerce Department contacted TSMS to ask whether it is directly or indirectly supplying Huawei with chipsets"

              "Ask them"

No ban or anything. They're just checking.

How can it be a new design if the chip was produced back in 2020? The Kirin 9000S, 9010 and 9100 are new designs. The Kirin 9006C is not a new design. Anyway, why is the US commerce department investigating TSMC for making a Kirin chip before the ban back in 2020?

There exists a notable degree of disrespectful anti-American sentiment expressed by numerous individuals in the comment sections here on GSMArena. The moderators seem to permit such discourse, which serves as a clear indicator of the type of environment this platform aims to nurture. One fact remains indisputable: the leaders of the nations you inhabit quiver at the prospect of a visit from the United States. We do not engage in trivial matters. While some may be led to believe otherwise by figures such as Biden and Kamala, it is essential to recognize that the United States will ensure compliance from any nation when deemed necessary. The approach taken can be either courteous or confrontational; we remain indifferent to which path is chosen. When the United States opts to enter negotiations with your respective countries, consider it a privilege. We could easily impose the regulations we deem appropriate, and there would be little recourse available to oppose it. Thus, it is prudent to appreciate that we are a benevolent and understanding nation that exercises restraint while demonstrating empathy. The alternative outcome would be markedly different.
