By theory, TSMC cant be banned from the US or most electronics and automobiles are cooked in the US. Good luck using Samsung Foundry, which cant make enough chips for everyone. And I know Apple would rather admit Android better than use Samsung Fab.

The West is not a divine species that has sovereignty over the world. The West is no more evil or good than the rest of the world. Admittedly, it is more evil at the moment.

They would have been at the level of Samsung or Apple right now.
The good thing with the fall of Huawei is that other Chinese companies could take its place globally.
I had 2 Huawei phones back in the day. Even though they were okay and I liked them, they were nothing out of this world. Just like any other smartphones.
I seriously doubt, that Huawei would had made some revolutionary discovery or changes to the smartphone world, if US didn't banned them. It was sad that it happened, but I doubt that things will be totally different now in the smartphone business, without this ban.

I need new phone, 6 hours agoOh ok...... Now shut it down like Huawei...... It's no... moreIt's on level with snapdragon 888 or 8 Gen 1. Between them both. Decent enough. You can sideload the gapps as well. Not an issue. Kirin 9100 is landmark chipset in history of Huawei. So wait till November. Performance and efficiency is level of snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It will be great. I am waiting for Huawei Pura 80 Ultra as well as they are shifting from IMX to sensors next to OV50*. Tremendous work is going on in background. Just wait and watch Pura 80 Ultra to get revealed.

I doubt it will fruitful in next five years. I believe chips need purest of water and TSMC in Taiwan have exactly that. Plus engineers are superb.

CoinSide, 8 hours agoNot surprised, Huawei was and still is too big for TSMC to ... moreYes. Kirin 9100 is equivalent to snapdragon 8 gen 2 and it will be milestone in China chip industry. I can't to test out Kirin 9600 which will equivalent or surpassed to snapdragon.
