The Huawei ... moreIf China engages in protectionism for pretty much every Chinese company to the point where pretty much all western social media apps are banned, any western company has to joint venture with local companies. Why shouldn't the EU and US take measures? It just takes one player to not play fair for the whole thing to be unfair. So if you have an issue, take it to China.

                  Another thing. Japan and Korea also engages in protectionism just not to the same extent, so yeah take up with those countries too.

                    The entire point of the free market is freedom. The Huawei ban was never necessary - ban it for US gov't employees: okay. But for everyone? Let the buyer beware. People concerned about Huawei and privacy/security will dodge it. The market dictates what happens to Huawei, then.
                    This comment thread is not disappointing me; every knows these bans are protectionism for Apple and Samsung. Which bros in politics got paid for recommending/implementing the bans ?

People should read how they almost killed completely France's Alcatel Lucent, they don't do business with others companies they bully them for their sole advantage that's why besides One + no other Chinese smartphone maker wants to invest billions of $ to get FCC certification of their units for US market, it's worthless against a government who can shut you down anytime they feel like regardless if you fully comply with federal laws or not.

Bear in mind this all are trade war. US not just sanction chips, but almost everything else using their 'allied' country. Camera sensors, bluetooth & wifi tech, 5G, etc. all have limitation for Huawei to evolve. I can bet P50 is supposed to bring 1st 1 inch smartphone camera sensor before anyone else, but got halt & sanction, force them to use limitation hardware.
