Huawei is built on a similar foundation. Stop being naive already. Android spies on you but so does IOS and this new one y'all are blindly praising. Every software has a creator and all it's users' data goes straight to the creator(s) and they do whatever they so please with that data. How about you stop using all of them...See? Problem solved.

Y'all are just a bunch of bias people. You call IOS & Android spyware cos they're backed by the US government. Well atleast those two get sued big time by the US government when they go wrong. But then you call HarmonyOS, an OS that's just an Android and IOS ripoff, an innovation. That OS is also backed by the Chinese government. Another country known for spying just like the US. Mind you, Huawei could never get sued by the Chinese government because they basically own it. My point is, y'all are just giving the same problem a different name.

Xiaomi's HyperOS is just basic MIUI with a layer of extra spyware added on top. Like the icing on the cake. That's why it's so awfully slow.
Xiaomi should really switch to Huawei IS bit only if bootloader is unlockable that is.

it will make a better app availability and not like windows phone situation."
If you notice on why Xiaomi creating an OS from a scratch (HyperOS) instead of using AOSP is because of this.
Xiaomi were ready to put Google or Huawei layer on top of their HyperOS.
I bet the only problem for Xiaomi is political.

As in, how does this benefit the end user exactly? From the dev side of things, surely it’s annoying for developers to have to make a new app for the Chinese domestic market, even if the porting process is simple. And given that the AOSP code base is open source, preventing any sort of ban in that sense doesn’t make sense either."
1. If Huawei keep using Android, they can't dictate their own future. Google can always put some hurdle to Tonya's Huawei.
2. The media will keep saying Huawei is a loooooooseeeeeeer
3. When Huawei create some improvement, and if the improvement can break android, then, the improvement will be a problem.

For Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo
Switching to HarmonyOS is simple. Do able.
The only problem they're afraid is the hawk, I mean eagle will punish them.
This is the reason that China need to finish their 3nm ASAP, so they can't be punished for disobeying the drunken eagle.

srdjan, 23 Oct 2024Is there any practical reason for this being entirely separ... moreAOSP is bare bones and a pain to work with. Google reserves security updates, many useful features and its apps for its licensed Android version. HarmonyOS Next means Huawei doesn't have to deal with Google's Android bs anymore. Sure, some users will be inconvenienced, but it means that Huawei phones will be running on more secure, efficient and optimised code.

Otherwise they might take the Apple, Nokia, or Blackberry route where it's their own exclusive OS. Although there are some Non-Nokia Phones that had Symbian OS, but only a few.

In the end this may not translate to a success without decent hardware and developers simply have to choose if the market worth effort.
