Samsung will reportedly release a Galaxy S25 Slim next year as a test for a potential S26 design

This will be an exercise in market research - how will consumers react to a slim phone?

Solun1, 01 Nov 2024Love me some slim phone. I still remember my slider U600 Ul... moreThe A8 was 8.4mm thick actually. But there were a couple of Samsung phones a decade ago that were small and thin, the Alpha that the article mentioned, and A3, which was almost a similar phone by it's design and dimensions. Both were pretty phones tbh, and if Samsung releases them again in 2024, I'd like to buy despite the older design. They were just beautifully compact and classy

Samsung now even copies Apple's rumors?

I still have a 6.1 mm moto flagship from 7 years ago. It's so sleek and pretty I kept it as a collectible

Love me some slim phone. I still remember my slider U600 Ultra thin edition. And Galaxy A8 was like 6 mm thin. But the most beautiful Samsung phones ever were Galaxy S6 Edge+ in gold color and Note 20 Ultra in bronze. Those were something...

I don't want a slimmer phone, I want a narrower phone no more than 68mm width to use with one hand. Something like the Asus Zenphone (but without stock Android) or the Sony Xperia 5 (but without making it tall).

Sadly, there seems to be little demand for small compact powerful phones so making a slimmer phone with worse battery life and that's still too big is a bit pointless.

This doesn't make sense. Such a phone design must be finalized close to a year before launch, clearly at least half a year or more. They cannot launch it months after the S25 series, wait to get people's reaction over first weeks/months, then change their mind for S26. That must enter test production then full one in time to have enough units for sale soon after announcement. The S6 was clearly finalized by the time the Alpha went on sale.

This report doesn't make sense in real life, production is not instantaneous.

Samsung mobile division needs to be clean out. A slim model is not needed.

We don't want slim phones, we want big batteries.

I fully support idea of slim and lightweight device. I don't care much about camera and battery because even the basic camera and battery size are sufficient for decent performance.

Lassen, 31 Oct 2024Will be hard to do such a slim phone with user replaceable ... moreThe bad news is that EU mandate on removable batteries isn't like the Galaxy S5, Note 13 or Xcover6 Pro level of battery removal. As long as the sealed battery doesn't require liquid solvent like some models like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXz7NVX_O-A , then they pass the EU requirement.
