Even companies like Gigaset relied on Coosea Group's designs, and then there's Lava who's marketing revolves around being #ProudlyIndian despite their phones being white label designs by Chinese ODMs

as Indonesian, i support the government, TKDN/Local components will make the price cheaper and phone coming with official guarantee. Meanwhile, i heard apple ask Indonesia to give them 50 years tax holiday, same like they receive in Vietnam. Sounds crazy..

some sort of funny, they don't know what's the rule they made of. if you want to do a protectionism, make sure you are really strong in the particular sectors and better supply chain. tech-related is not suited for kind of protectionism because technology is evolve really fast. no wonder why most investors go to Vietnam mostly
the funny thing is, they ban a legit devices that actually benefits both consumers and countries for sake of "mUh LoCaL cOmPonEts" which is the sector that they barely strong of, but they bats no eye to the actual counterfeit devices, which tricks and do more harms to consumers especially those poors, known as "WELCOME" phones. proof? check the Indonesian's Shopee/Lazada. those fake phones are featured on search/front page disguised as legit product. it seems that the goverments only care about themselves and don't care about consumers at all.
poor Indonesians only have Samsung, Xiaomi, BBK and Transsions and counterfeit products to choose, which Xiaomi & BBK are too half-hearted to sell their flagship there (Xiaomi 14 Ultra isn't sold there, they have no Oneplus, Realme only sell their lowends)

I totally agree, as long as they do not comply with Indonesian regulations, they are not allowed to sell in Indonesia. The country should not lose to companies.

FYI
Google Pixel has already out from Indonesia Market due to market reason, few years ago phone like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme flooded Indonesia market with cheaper phones and Indo Gov's Regulation that every product they sell must have at least 30% Local Content (now 40%) which makes google rethink their strategy
Apple in other hand already fullfill their 30% a few years ago by Investing to some local University and also promised to the Gov that they will add more funds, but until this years Apple never realized that promise and also their "selling permit" also expired this year that makes the 16 series enter delayed until futher notice.
Yes, ppl still can buy 16 series or pixels at malaysia or singapore but they have to activate the phone's IMEI in order to use local cellular service which is not cheap.

Many people will have differing opinions, but I say: good on Indonesia!
It's great that they're exercising their powers to demand more out of these giant companies.

In the end the ban needed if google and iPhone didn’t even want to invest in those countries like how do you expect to fix you pixel without any pixel service center there

As long as you have samsung that is one of the big companies they'll be fine. Apple and Google products almost only has feature that benefits on the Western side.
