Edward Coventry, 09 Nov 2024Small phone with 1 flush cameraBe prepared to get a thick phone then, or a tiny sensor.
Flush cameras are almost physically impossible now, which is sorta painful because I miss how sleek the late 2010s era phones were.
My good old HTCs, my S9, my LG G7...superb phones to hold.
(I'll add that the quad dac in that G7 made me sorely miss it)

I have a friend who's on like his 5th Xperia, I tried it out and it's incredible. He won't buy anything else

Poor samsung.
Need to now copy something else from another brand and advertise as 1st ever, like battery functions copied from xz1.

Batteri Voltas, 09 Nov 2024S9 had variable aperture and everyone called it a gimmick. To be fair though the S9 had (compared to now) a tiny sensor and less light sensitive than tech now. Starving that thing of light with a dimmer aperture wouldn't make much sense. But larger and more sensitive sensors would see more of a difference. It might have been too early back then.

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2024Samsung fanboys called gimmick:
- IP rating
- stereo ... moregood thing I'm not a fanboy and think phones like the S6 and S20 were absolutely terrible for the amount of features they ditched and lacked compared to the competition, or for just being a blatant downgrade. The S6 in particular had nothing going for it other than the design, screen and skipping the SD810.
I'm also probably skipping another Ultra year (S21U user) for the lack of camera improvements. And I haven't been buying only Samsung, I came from Huawei and loved my P30 Pro to bits. Would have bought another P-series but I wanted 5G and GMS.
Now I don't want to change brand because I don't want to let go of OneUI, and my current one is still good.
But sure, I forgot the GSMArena comment rule is that if you don't blatantly state "Samsung is the most evil company in existence and everything they do is a scam" you're automatically a fanboy. Don't you even dare owning a phone made by them

jiyen235, 09 Nov 2024scamsung fanboys and their stupid delusions will never ceas... moreAnyone that defends anything coming from Samsung and isn't a blind hater is a "fanboy" for most people here.
I have lots of criticism for what they do.
but you can't deny pretty much no one cared when variable aperture was ditched for the S20 series.

Batteri Voltas, 09 Nov 2024S9 had variable aperture and everyone called it a gimmick.Samsung fanboys called gimmick:
- IP rating
- stereo speakers
- glass back
- hdr screen
- 960fps recording
- desktop mode of windows phones
- OIS ( even a certain website said they were not sure about it being useful while talking about lg g2)
- 1440p resolution
- multi cam system.
Then, started to label all this as " must have on expensive phones" after samsung started using.

We've seen this in a couple of phone with larger 1 inch sensors, like Xiaomi and Huawei and while a cool feature sometimes it doesn't bring a lot of benefits. Xiaomi will even remove it from their next 15 Ultra because of the added complexity, cost and thickness without actually bringing better photography. Will be interesting to see what Apple does.
