The iPhone 17 Slim and Galaxy S25 Slim both run into the same issues

11 November 2024
There are two major hurdles to making a phone thinner and both Apple and Samsung had to deal with them.

PatrickCzech, 12 Nov 2024Just why? We do not need suck thin phones. But OK the batte... moreWe all know that kind of paradigm shift things, it better said than done. Titanium must be recycled by Apple all of it, I meant.

The marketing BS is just a joke, wow sammy the sheep decides to follow Apple as usual so what.... a whole 1.6mm thinner?
Big deal! why they just give us a bigger battery or bigger sensor cameras instead any day of the week. Many of us would rather choose a 2 full day battery or better Apertures over the useless 1.6mm thinner which achieves absolutely nothing but more fragile due to thinness and possibly more heat due to limited space.

Just why? We do not need suck thin phones. But OK the battery capacity problem can be resolved easily. It is called Silicon Carbon battery.

So If all things titanium us Apple users are not forever stock good or bad with the hardware service provider good, as now the hafty price seems justified.

PartTimePhoner, 11 Nov 2024The problem with today's phones is not their thickness... moreThey don't care about what we need, they care about how to mint next $500-1500$ from you. Phone tech innovation is pretty much halted from 2020.

iPhone Mini: 5-10% of sales -> flop -> discontinued
iPhone Plus: 5-10% of sales -> flop -> to be discontinued
iPhone Slim: expected to be 5-10% of sales - I wonder what people will say about it 🤔 especially if it's more expensive

I don't need a slim phone. I need a smaller phone that can fit in my pockets and not drop out when I sit down!

S I R E, 11 Nov 2024Who even wants a slimmer phone? Iphone 6 plus would bend,... moreThe problem is also camera bump. Slim phone with thick camera bump will looks ugly. Old phones which only has 1 "standard" camera don't have thick bump. They are also flat (seamless design).

The biggest problem would be heat dissipation because thin phone can't house a vapour chamber.

Their was a vision, A vision to scale down x86 but it's scrapped now. This path only takes to lo-po electronics, first they ll blame the mediocre lens mods, then in every 14 month they tok battery incompetency. But finally the investor will agree that case cow is altered now. Ain't good business same this looping since renaissance, so first off renaissance is not religious.

PartTimePhoner, 11 Nov 2024The problem with today's phones is not their thickness... moreThe boxy design with flat panels makes the phone less vulnerable. In my opinion a boxy phone with grippy sides and back handles much better. I'm currently using a Huawei from 2020 with curving sides and flat screen. It doesn't handle well, I don't have big hand but still manage to touch the screen with my palm and thumb.
The best handling phone I owned was a 2012 Sony Xperia S. It had flat sides and a slightly bulging back.

Last time they wanted to make something slim first their products folded then they removed the bloved 3.5 mm headphone jack phones must be normal and sturdy no one wants a slim phone that bother palm of the hand and fingers while grabbed

google proved that you can add a ultra thin oled pannel on a device that is 5.1 mm(fold2), Down clock the chip and you have a winner. The a17 pro and snapdragon chips are crazy fast even a 20% down-clock is doable.

What they mean by volume issues? Apple should be able to use silicon carbon battery technology. Yeah we know Apple to produce far far more volume than other Chinese OEM but they also have a lot more money to invest. The real reason they can't is just that they want to keep maximise their profit.
