On virgin mobile an IPhone 5 is $550. How do they think that $60 cheaper makes a difference . At max I was willing to pay $350, which is on the high end of the scale compared to other prepaid phones. How is this supposed to be competing in the low end market. I kind of understand why iPhone 5 is so high prepaid, because it was not made for the prepiad market, but was just added to widen there sphere, but to intentionally make a prepaid or unlocked phone that price is crazy. I might as well buy a higher quality iphone 5 (which I am so not going to do). Looks like i'll be sticking to android. I can see right now that this will be a ridiculous flop.

If it's going to be priced at $490 then there's no point really on making the 5C. With that price in mind, you could get a really sweet android phone that would probably out spec and out quality 5C.

Its Very Clear, Apple wants to get into Mobile Pre-Paid market (Pay-as you go) Plans which is popular in over 60% of the World market...Like China, India, South East Asia and more. Creating a Phone like this is very good Idea. Apple will certainly capture that market for sure. Big Problem for Android and BlackBerry(which is already in Doldrums)

GUG, 07 Aug 2013I live in Armenia(Yerevan) and in my country iphone 5 16gb ... moreAbout the same as here in Norway. $873 for 16GB and $1177 for 64GB. Mad pricing. Even more than Ultrabooks.
Others like Optimus G start at $570, while previous top models like Optimus 4X HD is only $335. Could buy 3 pcs for the same as 32GB version of iphone 5.
It will be interesting for those who like ios to see where this ends up price wise and just how much of a downgrade it will be from the 5/5s.
