Google is allegedly merging Chrome OS into Android

The reason makes no sense to us, but maybe it will to you.

I recently tried to use some low power arm devices as desktop systems by installing armbian and I'll tell you, Android seems better to me in many ways (like superior hardware support). But what android needs is a proper desktop mode and some upgradability support.

If chrome os is the system that can run android apps and bring a proper desktop experience to hardware accelerated low power arm systems, I'm all for it.

Armbian might win but right now it's at an infancy stage. I can't even decode h264 for watching youtube, on an SoC that supports tons of codecs.

Another benefit of the merger is that it'll standardise the desktop mode you create when connecting a phone to a screen/kb/mouse. What if this will end up with everybody going from windows to android.
