Motorola drops UIQ, but slip word of Windows Mobile 6.5

It is good decision made by Motorola, I comments about 2 years ago that Nokia should have turn their
platform either Windows Mobile or Andriod OS instead of Symbian. I thing they should stop here and adopt Andriod OS. I think it will uplift Nokia's Marketing Share in the world. Otherwise they may loose their position. It is only my suggestion which i share with you all people.

All they need are the correct programs and of course a data cable. If ever Motorola users have an error in their phones, they can easily replace them with new firmware.

I do agree with the death of Symbian UIQ, which caused nothing but (if not HUGE!) trouble for Moto...not just for sales, but its reputation.
I've used 2 Symbian based Moto phones: A1000 and Z8, both of which happen to offer "automatic reboot" from time to time. My Z8 does everything WORSE than any Synergy (or P2K?) based "non-smart" Moto phones...like Z3!
Regarding MotoMagx, or the Java-Linux platform, I feel very sad as I've both E6 and A1600, which perform as fast as my non-smart Moto phones, only being just as user friendly and easy to use, if not even better. (such as dragging the folder in memory card to make the playlist) Very sad to hear the fact Moto has given up the development of this O/S for 3G capability, which I always appreciate as when Moto came out with its first 3G phones with video calling (A835)and touch screen capabilities, (A925), others were still making a bunch of 2G phones, and for certain almighty brand, it took exactly 4 years to develop its first 3G touchscreen device.
Guess the only good news to me is, after buying 12 Moto phones in 2008 (including those for my wife, my mom and father-in-law), I can take a "break" in early 2009.

if they don... moreFrom where I live, Moto can fix phones usually within an hour (if not 40~50 mins), and one usually waits less than 5 mins to drop off the phone for service.
For the almighty and "I ? music" brands, one has to wait at least an hour to drop off the phone for service, then wait at least another 90 mins.
So how would you define customer satisfaction for the "lonely repairman"?

Only upon implementation, the whole system had so much problem that the police simply switched back to Moto in no time.
So who is the KING of telecommunication? The company with over 40% market share but took more than 4 years behind its competitor to come out with its first 3G touchscreen device?

Many developers will be able to create applications for Android and can gain profit from them. Also, open-source devices are always open to constant improvements without consumers waiting for the next update by the original software developers. Think of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

The reason why Android is overtaking other platforms is that it's American based. Look at how the apple phone OS and the rest were embraced but completely forgot about s60. a lot of people were complaining that this or that phone is not available in the U.S. well Nokia is Finnish and Samsung is Korean. And the only significant phone manufacturer other than Apple from the U.S. is Blackberry and their phones are ugly and unwieldy.

Ya, i agree that moto to took this step, A BIG STEP FORWARD to gain larger portion of market. UIQ was so boring and lack of creativity, wish that MOTO will comes out something new and i am waiting for ur suprise, MOTO !

I think in a near future if Samsung still develops so many good phones it will come close to Nokia share percentage. The only minus they have is the problematic displays (usage in a daily sunlight)

I shifted to sonyericsson for it's fast interface and good looking OS otherqise I was Motorola fan..... I will not buy Motorola again If they doesn't change the boring JavaOS we ususally see on every phone like RAZR etc.
Ne way I do appreciate the materials they use.. it's better than SE, Nokia, Samsung.........

SE has done the same, now motorola has done the this....2 cometitive companies ..
I think Samsung is really doing well this year, so many nice phones coming from them this year, i saw the Samsung i8510 INNOV8 in a shop yesterday WOW! i actually really loved it...i think i might get it as my next phone i liked it that much!
the INNOV8 i8510 is soo much bettter then Nokia's N95 range.
id take the samsung anyday anytime!
as for Sony Ericsson which iv mostly been a fan off, there doing good i like the C905. but stilll nothing much new coming from them.
Samsung you Rule now.

I don't know much about OS phones, but as I recall, 1-2 years ago SE was second on sales (now has just 8%) and Nokia had 40%. Any way, I still strongly disagree with the "trend" of mobile manufacters to release every year a bunch of last's year redesigned mid-range phones, which usually pack no new features, except a design facelift and an "updated" price tag. In my opinion, they should develop software more instead of hardware design
