HyperOS is great in everything except battery life but that isn't a problem anymore either. After updating to HyperOS 2, I already got an additional hour of SOT and with some tweaks including debloating I increased my SOT from 4hrs to 6hrs. It's really not that bad of a problem anymore. Update schedules could improve though, I was supposed to get HyperOS last month.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Considering they said it charger their ROG Ally at 65 watts... moreForgot to add
"Another important, but less well-known, aspect of the common charging directive is around the unification of fast charging. The EU’s goal being the simplification of this oft-confusing practice. The governing body defines fast charging as anything that can be recharged via a wire with “voltages higher than 5 volts, currents higher than 3 amperes, or powers higher than 15 watts.”
When devices hit this threshold, they must work with USB Power Delivery (USB PD), a charging protocol that enables devices to transfer power over USB in addition to data. While some devices, such as iPhones and the Google Pixel range have used this standard for some time, other handsets, such as OnePlus and OPPO, use the proprietary charging SUPERVOOC standard without also supporting USB PD."
So in the end there is no excuse to not use PD, especially since when USB Implementers Forum announced the 2.1 revision in 2021, goes up to 240 watts, but newer versions could go beyond it.

i've been using Xiaomi since 2020 and for all these years their UI changed very slightly, since MIUI 12 it still feels around the same, HyperOS is just rebranded MIUI. I've tried Realme with their RealmeUI (ColorOS variant) and it was much better smooth, nice looking and minimalistic.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Considering they said it charger their ROG Ally at 65 watts... moreYup
Searched up the law:
"All new smartphones, tablets, cameras and other electronic gadgets marketed in the EU will have to come with a USB-C charging port by fall 2024. In addition, chargers can be unbundled from devices if a manufacturer wishes so, giving consumers the choice whether to buy a new charger with a device or keep using the old one."

I don't agree with review of hyperos as failure. If anything hyperos is a success and solid OS. Only part agreeable is Chinese and global version have substantial difference. Hyperos as an OS has some of the smoothest animations in android world. Also AI features are really helpful. Hyperos is behind no other android OS in realm of AI.

Luke, 28 Dec 2024That's nonsense. I'm using Samsung for years and ... moreYou tell the truth but vik457 hates samsung so...
Ignoring US (carrier ads) and India, Samsung phones have rarely any ads at all, unless you hate Samsung apps and Google apps, I see people gete consider that and ad to protect their opinion about chinese brands.
Chinese brands like Xiaomi have ads, simple fact and that people are fine with them like I do (I debloated my Xiaomi 13) doesn't change that fact.

jiyen235, 28 Dec 2024what were the specifications of the your friend's char... moreConsidering they said it charger their ROG Ally at 65 watts, I assume at least that.
But tech doesn't matter, Honor uses proprietary tech so you need THEIR charger.
Which EU never forbid putting in box, I just hate how people spread this nonesense about "EU being at fault", that's a lie, Apple started removing beicks from boxes, then Samsung and Google followed and now does the rest, and while Apple, Samsung and Google don't always earn money from it (get a PD/PPS charger and it will work), chinese brands technically lock their super fast charging behind proprietary tech... which they don't have to because there is a standardised way for 100+ watt charging if they want to use it, but they refuse.
Also Motorola is still giving a brick in their box in EU for years for example, because there is no such EU law that they can't, again it is the biggest nonsense EU haters keep spreading online.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Like samsung is not same. Yesterday someone complained to ... moreWhich region and which phone.
In essence Samsung has no ads outside of some countries like India, but their cheapest below 200 euro phones come in some regions with ads (never saw any on a EU device however)
Talking about unlocked devices, in the US for example 99% of phone ads are added by the carrier, and only Apple gets away with blocking that.
But it depends on region and device, Xiaomi phones in my region don't come with ads (western europe) but I know people that import them for much less from eastern europe, and over there pretty often you do get ads on their phones.
So it depends.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Like samsung is not same. Yesterday someone complained to ... moreThat's nonsense. I'm using Samsung for years and regardless of region there's no single ad in their os and launcher or apps. The only ads you can find in Samsung devices are those inbuilt in apps and even then setting private DNS can obliterate them.
I can recall only one occasion when i was spammed by ads - installed back then some shady game/app and that caused massive spam of ads everywhere. Just removed it, reset the advertising id under Google settings and never saw those again. Might be the case for your friend, but apart from that, i can assure you Samsung has no ads like Xiaomi has.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Some EU countries don't get a charger from Xiaomi in b... moreI have problem only to find a cable. Charger would be nice to have more USB-A slots and i would like to have the slot at max charging speed too and not limit them on slower speed while have type-c plugs that give the max speeds the brick offers. Like buy more cables that none will support the Xiaomi.
I needed like 1.5M to 2M long cable cause the wall socket is too far away from my table so i need to move my pc chair to use phone cause the original cable is too short. Never mind that i got to buy 2M Xiaomi original cable but i hate the white color cause it gets ugly in short time. I like the braded cables but it's practically impossible to find one that give the charging speeds. Like i have Xiaomi brick with 67W that was in the box with the phone but then use some cable that should support the speed but dont.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024Some EU countries don't get a charger from Xiaomi in b... morewhat were the specifications of the your friend's charger? What was the max wattage? What charging standards did it support?
It's not Honor's fault that EU doesn't like chargers in the box but yeah it's sad that he needed to import a fast charger but i don't really see the point of this whole paragraph over just one charger. I understand it's annoying that other standards aren't supported but is that really the case? Is your friend's charger 80W+?

I'm thinking about soon replacing my Xiaomi Redmi 10C with a different one. I bought it in August 2022 and so far it's been holding up, it only feels like battery life is slightly, but noticeably worse than about a year ago. Everything else is working fine, literally, I have no reason to change the phone as it works and I can estimate being able to use it for 2 or more years, but it concerns me that HyperOS has problems with battery life, I am thinking of getting a Xiaomi phone again, but this is a bit of a concern to me.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2024There is a lot to dislike in xiaomi, bloatware, ads in soft... moreLike samsung is not same. Yesterday someone complained to me about slow phone ( samsung user) and asked me remove stuff that might causing it.
Not even 90 min video on youtube would show me the amount of ads I saw in 10 min trying to find stuff withing oneUI. More ads than what you see on any tv channel from USA . Extremely bizarre.
The option to stop the ads , gave me those messages " error, try again later"
