Both USB-C port mandatory law for most electronics in EU by the end of 2024 and the upcoming release of iPhone SE 4 (or SE 2025) to replace SE3 (or SE 2022) are the reason as I already know from the headline.

So, they want people to purchase a slightly newer model with usb c which cost significantly higher than the older model.
Got it.

Good riddance for the SE3, though the iPhone 14 kinda doesn't deserve it especially for when the SE4 will not have an ultrawide camera.

Ken Charles, 14 Dec 2024Why is it so hard for Apple to assemble USB-C on its device... moreThey're already releasing SE4 soon which will replace both of these phones - what's the point of switching to USB-C on both now?

AnonD-1183726, 14 Dec 2024But why would on earth any regulatory desire a fragmentable... moreAs an Apple user for over 5 years, I can say Lightning was a good, sturdy port for sure. But I'm still happy that USB C ports are on all Apple devices now. It was quite annoying to always remember to bring an extra lightning cable when I travelled with my friends who use Android phones.
The USB C port on my iPad got partially damaged when I connected a tight USB C cable which came with my Samsung T7. It charges properly only with the Apple USB C cables or Belkin/Spigen ones. I really don't know why Samsung decided to make such a tight fitting cable. There should be better regulation around that.

Why is it so hard for Apple to assemble USB-C on its devices? It must be easy. Isn't it? Why???

AnonD-1183726, 14 Dec 2024But why would on earth any regulatory desire a fragmentable... moreIt was a show of power to the public that the EU can tame the biggest companies. This show of power had a massive side effect which the public does not realize or acknowledge to this date.

Whatevs, 14 Dec 2024The EU's tantrum over Lightning cables is comedy gold! LOLIt is small part of a deeper problem in the EU which is "Regulatory Overreach". The EU is already paying the price of this overreach, just look at the stagnating economy. Add that to the high energy costs and you have a recipe for an economic depression.

Anonymous, 14 Dec 2024To be fair uniformity with cables is something to be desire... moreBut why would on earth any regulatory desire a fragmentable product which is USB-C(MOQ is very less for these Price/Qty) compared to a better in terms of material, i.e Lightning port(Thunderbolt + USB-Cspeed + better IP68). En extra cable was killing Eurozone in pain or suffering, is it?
