jiyen235, 20 Dec 2024afaik the Honor Magic 4 Pro+ used the GN2 as well. Besides,... moreGN2 is just large version of gn1. Old tech.
HP2 is more light sensitive than gn1. Much higher quantum efficiency than any other isocell .
Even gn5 and gn3 are more modern than these two.

Problem is samsung mobile. Same mistake they do with screens.
They offer what is " considered beautiful", not what is actually good.

Put galaxy S side by side with any other flagship. It is always worst screen calibration.

Honestly, I prefer photos taken by those xiaomi with HMX than current ones. Far less processed and artificial.

Looks like vivo dropped 1" on ultra too. Gonna do all propaganda to convice people that new lyt818 can do better. Many reviews gonna back it up when photos show x100 ultra does better than 200 pro. Huge margin.

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2024There was no client for gn2, since xiaomi went back to sony... moreafaik the Honor Magic 4 Pro+ used the GN2 as well. Besides, if Sony has better sensors, manufacturers are gonna go after em, so it's Samsung's fault. Also, they could've used that sensor themselves and they'd have gotten better results than they have now. A larger sensor nearly always wins unless the processing is super mature.

And yes! I agree, Samsung's processing is HORRENDOUS and would've made even the 1/1.12" sensor look bad BUT, it would still be better than what we have now yk? Just asking for the bare minimum lol

Anyways, I disagree with the processing statement. It completely depends on the manufacturer, Xiaomi's shots look exceptional (at least the Ultra phone's shots after the 12S series). Vivo looks processed but the photos still look really good but here's the thing. If you don't like the processed look, in phones like the Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi Ultra, you can just go and use the Pro Mode and get great shots. In Samsung phones you don't have the great hardware so pro mode shots sucks as well and Sony phones have neither exceptional auto mode shots (their processing aint good enough for the most part) nor do they have good hardware for Pro Mode shots. I personally prefer taking a RAW and a normal shot together if possible and with Vivo and Xiaomi's super RAW photos, photography on phones hasn't been better!

A Quick Look to the reviews here and you can tell and not only that but one need to be blinded to complain about their cameras and praise Samsung with its extreme fake colors and or iPhones with its yellow tinted and dark/contrasty images. SONY XPERIA phones are the best in terms of photography, if anyone doesn't think so, I feel sorry for these people. Even if you take Xperia's macro photography, not a single phone in the world can compare with it.People just watch paid trolling reviews by hired bloggers from the аpple, samsung and xiaomi teams and believe it mindlessly. It is enough to look at the works of photographers such as James Mathews,Hisanori YOSHIDA, Ollie Nilsson, Dennis Schmetz,Dominica Koszowska,Oscar Lindsey look at their work on automatic and manual settings, they are simply masterpieces and I think you will understand that XPERIA is the Best Camera Phones IN THE WORLD!

If you like enhanced images, multiple stacked images then yeah, if you don't then the Sony is better. E.g the photos that come out of honor (kind of ok), oppo (also kind of ok but can get over processed) or motorola (horrible, unavoidable hdr like effect). The only part that's not as good on xperia is the telephoto and ultrawide

                          Since 2019.

But according to experts here (and those that watch some youtubers) , they are wrong. They do not know how to offer photos. ..

Photographyblog ( website dedicated to cameras and also tests phones sold in USA) has Pro-i as only one rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for image quality. No pixel, galaxy or iphone .

Nobody is surprised. With phones shipping with no less than 2 or 3 rear cameras these days (most of them are a massive waste of silicon) and sometimes multiple front facing ones too, this is no "achievement" it was bound to happen.

If you are referring to Xperia, I can understand, as Sony Xperia business is no longer about competing with the smartphone fierce competition but side-project to implement and test something new, patent-keeping division, so enboxed them into something less reliant on software and more on the know-how is expected from Xperia, even with mainstream approach of 1 VI. But THE Sony Alpha, FX, or Sony CineAlta Venice? I don't even that is possible to describe it...

Most of the phones sold with Sony's imaging tech were iPhones.

Since there's no news regarding the Xperia 5 Vi, its time for them to wake up and use Apple's Camera Tech.
