BASF-type business model that Sony taken for camera sensor is a proven to be long-term better results. I don't blame them.

So why they arent no 1 camera in smartphones ? Nice pics in good light but...always behind Samsung, Apple, Vivo, even Pixel atm.
Why they not make new "5" series, why is so hard to buy their phones in many countries ?

YoloBS, 20 Dec 2024How many of those are " 2mp micro camera sensors " It's more 8 mp ultrawide sensor that's coming from them(imx355)

Bravosixgoingdark, 20 Dec 2024Their after megapixel bragging rights more than anything, l... morethey were going in the right direction with the GN2, they had the largest sensor in the market and it was actually capable of taking perhaps the best shots, as shown by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra..... but they decided to ditch that in favor of the HP2 and the 200 MP tag.... FOR THE MAIN CAM. And it doesn't even have better 2x cropping compared to the competition either lmao so it's all for nothing.

However, credit where credit is due, the megapixel war actually has had a really good result come out of it. The HP9 is a masterpiece, a proper upgrade over the already exceptional OV64B. Size isn't the only thing good about these sensors, they were MADE with cropping in mind, for example take a look at the Oppo Find X6 pro's 3x, even though it's a HUGE sensor and far larger than the OV64B and stuff, the cropping isn't especially great.

And honestly tho, Sony themselves don't use their best sensors so i can't really blame Samsung too much for not doing the same either, they both suck despite making or having the ability of making great sensors lol

"four-camera devices are common across the price spectrum"

More like 2mp depth and macro pseudosensors are common across the low-price spectrum.

The sony 48 and 50mpx sensors it's competing with are far ahead

Samsung needs to UP their game. The HP2, a 1/1.3" sensor performs worse than the LYT-700, with crushed shadows and blown out highlights.

                        Samsung is far behind.

Maybe unrelated, but I need to ask.
The ISOCELL HP2 from Samsung has 0.6micronpixels, and 16 of them are grouped to form a 2.4micronpixel image.
Yet, the HP2 performs worse than the LYT-700, not to even mention the LYT-800 of the OnePlus 13. Samsung always has blown out highlights and crushed shadows.

Why isn't Samsung pursuing such excellence, like Sony? Or, is it just as bad as Exynos? I mean, the HP9 is one of the best sensors on the market now. What's wrong with Samsung?

How many of those are " 2mp micro camera sensors "

imagine if Panasonic or others jumped into the phone sensor market seriously.... the competition would've been insane! Now we're just hoping for OV to make some cheaper bangers

while their phone doesn't even sell 1 million units per year..

Back in 2014 when they were still making budget phones, my younger brother bought an Xperia E1 I try that phone a while and I loved that phone (way better than my Galaxy Star). The UI is very good and doesn't lag which only uses a dual core SoC. Ahhh back when Sony was still good at making phones.

They could've sold 20,000,000,016 just by putting the third camera back on the Xperia 5.
