HP2 is most advanced they have.

Problem is people responsible for galaxy S Ultra think that bright shadows, warm colours, sharpening are what photography has to be.
Even with apsc cmos, photos would still remain garbage.

It is not hardware limitations. If you edit dng taken by 1/2" sensor, it will look better than jpeg out of 1". Phone makers ruin jpeg with enhancements.

You will never look at photo taken by photocamera ( even one from 2005) and say it looks like oil painting

Hopefully there is an effort by Sony Semiconductor to move those companies that deal with Sony's B2B to axed using IMX355 sensor considering main sensors of many camera is already great and now the time to tricked down to the useful auxiliary sensors like telephotos and ultrawides.

AFAIK, I don't remember they had any B2C product since 2000 but they remain the biggest chemical producer in the world until now despite struggling lately, as this is due to their B2B business and some advantages that B2B had that B2C doesn't. Their closest rivals, Sinopec at 2nd place from China, is quite far behind compared to BASF as far I already checked . Sony could have imitate that business modelling for their camera sensor-related division.

rizki1, 20 Dec 2024while their phone doesn't even sell 1 million units pe... moreWell their business model, at least for the main focuses are camera sensor and camera imaging has shifted from focusing B2C (business-to-consumer) to B2B (business-to-business), so selling more camera sensor and bulk purchase of their Sony Alpha camera to businesses like Associated Press at this point is more profitable than had to catch Xperia further with the competition but drag them down further. BASF-type business model that Sony taken for camera sensor is a proven to be long-term better results. I don't blame them.

Why they not make new "5" series, why is so hard to buy their phones in many countries ?

Bravosixgoingdark, 20 Dec 2024Their after megapixel bragging rights more than anything, l... morethey were going in the right direction with the GN2, they had the largest sensor in the market and it was actually capable of taking perhaps the best shots, as shown by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra..... but they decided to ditch that in favor of the HP2 and the 200 MP tag.... FOR THE MAIN CAM. And it doesn't even have better 2x cropping compared to the competition either lmao so it's all for nothing.

However, credit where credit is due, the megapixel war actually has had a really good result come out of it. The HP9 is a masterpiece, a proper upgrade over the already exceptional OV64B. Size isn't the only thing good about these sensors, they were MADE with cropping in mind, for example take a look at the Oppo Find X6 pro's 3x, even though it's a HUGE sensor and far larger than the OV64B and stuff, the cropping isn't especially great.

And honestly tho, Sony themselves don't use their best sensors so i can't really blame Samsung too much for not doing the same either, they both suck despite making or having the ability of making great sensors lol

Samsung needs to UP their game. The HP2, a 1/1.3" sensor performs worse than the LYT-700, with crushed shadows and blown out highlights.

                                    Samsung is far behind.

Maybe unrelated, but I need to ask.
The ISOCELL HP2 from Samsung has 0.6micronpixels, and 16 of them are grouped to form a 2.4micronpixel image.
Yet, the HP2 performs worse than the LYT-700, not to even mention the LYT-800 of the OnePlus 13. Samsung always has blown out highlights and crushed shadows.

Why isn't Samsung pursuing such excellence, like Sony? Or, is it just as bad as Exynos? I mean, the HP9 is one of the best sensors on the market now. What's wrong with Samsung?
