    My friend, single core performance will do you little to no good at all when it comes to tasks like heavy gaming and video editing / playback since they put a significant amount of strain on the SoC as a whole. Multi-core exists so we can perform those exact tasks on our phone which would've been either very difficult or entirely impossible even with the strongest single core performance available. Single core is for tasks like web browsing and audio playback since they won't strain your phone as much

Multi threaded applications are still not a standard, in fact, most applications still just use single core for operations. This is exactly why Chip designs have shifted to 1 high clocked main core and then accompanied smaller or lower clocked cores especially in the Mobile SoC side of things. Apple too focused on maintaining single threaded lead in computing for the same reason and has stuck with hexacore SoCs for their phones and tabs. The usecases for multicore performance is still a níche.

That skin will destroy the performance, sadly.. if only they could give an option for cleaner android, Poco would have been perfect buy... now it just tries to compete with previous gen flagships at similar price.. despite all bugs and lack of proper software

              The dimensty 8400 is a very interesting Soc, we might see snapdragon making a 8s elite (gen 4)or a 7+ gen 4 to compete with that 8400

Because if the apps big... moreYou know, if you don't know how something works, it's better to learn instead of assuming that the other person doesn't knoe either and you can say just about anything. Multi threaded applications are still not standard in desktop computing. Most if not all processes cannot be split across cores so single core performance is way more important that you think. This is also why Apple still ships with hexacore phones and has maintained a lead in single core performance.

Single thread performance scales with cores and if it's poor, it'll reflect in multicore too. Also don't fool yourself that everything is just multithreaded. A lot of encoding processes is still single threaded like encoding JPG files or MP3 files because they just don't benefit from multicores.

                        Only small apps or apps that were not "hungry" enough use single core.

                            Would've hoped for atleast 7+ Gen 3 level Single core performance but oh well. I like where Mediatek is headed but I'm still not willing to risk it with them. I'd rather wait for whatever the successor to 7+ Gen 3 or 8s Gen 3 (both damn near identical performers BTW) or maybe just cave in for Red Magic 10 with 8 Elite (Kinda expensive for my liking but at least I get 3.5mm audio jack).

                            I've always had poor experiences with Mediatek in the past across 3 devices and nothing but stability with Qualcomm Snapdragon across 4 devices despite the 810s notorious heating issue it never failed on me.

                            All the power to Mediatek but I don't have deep enough pockets to give them another chance yet. I can buy 1 phone and it'll be something with stable track record.

                                  Gone are the days when it was obviously better to get an old flagship soc instead of a new midrange chipset

                                        That's very good. And the chip is quite efficient as well, at least CPU wise, tested by geekerwan. Nice stuff from Xiaomi and Mediatek.
