To me chips really depend
Like what do you want ?
Mobile games , efficient chip , budget efficient power chip ( balanced ) etc
I dont mind a flagship chip but it's better to get M series from apple in ipads if you want best of best " mobile " chips.
Mobile games can't really drive new chips to max but when you emulate they can't keep up either.
I made a mistake with this cause my phone can play mobile games but I don't want to and I'm stuck with a powerful phone that I don't use ( typing from old phone ) but I do like old pc games , however for that I need a better chip.
For me flagship chips are not just for my nerd fantasy but good use is to play old pc titles like Assassin's Creed , Need For Speed Run , Dead Space and many more . Playing in phone is crazy because now when your offline or use social media you can instead replace that with nice game.
The use is niche ofcource and drains battery
Someone played Nfs Underground 2 on their phone and I couldn't stop thinking about it , and that's why I really hype powerful phones.
You can play Genshin and WW in many phones , midrange but flagships give best exp but if you drop a bit of graphic that you don't need even midrangers play them well.
For flagships , if they bring Laptop like Zen Processor or M chips which are 6nm or less , it will heat but it can rival laptops to some degree. They're not powerful like laptops but playing pc games in phone sounds nice .(until it's not = battery drain )
I'm looking forward for new SD chip.
And if apple makes M chip iPhone I might join the dark side for once. As long as I can play said pc games , I'm not brand loyal.
You can say switch or console is better but I want a phone that can game pc.
I dont want to bring a separate phone everywhere.
And if my main phone is powerful I'll be tempted to game , by putting social media's on side and games on home screen .
If the GPU gets good , having more ram also needed because I think phone also used shared memory right ? I don't know..
But let's see if standalone mobile games come.
We don't have single player games in phone that cost 50-70$ else good graphics are all live service. Or anime games..

The Xperia Z. Using lineage 20 Unofficial
While the lineage 20 is usable/stable.
The phone is simply too old and slow even to browse a website.
The phone also too slow to do online shopping apps.

Why are you mixing up apples and oranges? You probably think a laptop RTX 4090 is the same as a desktop RTX 4090 (when in reality it performs like a RTX 4080). The boost in performance from 8 Gen 3 to 8 Elite is because of the oryon cores and from dropping all the efficiency cores in favor of all performance cores, it has NOTHING to do with the X Elite processor found in laptops. It is only obvious that the termals will take a hit with this decision, which is why the next chipset should aim to rectify that. Stop putting "X" emojis onto people when you're the clear ignorant here for thinking 2 processors with similar name are the only reason for the boost in performance.

An unsubstantiated guess, which makes no sense, as manufacturers timelines won't be affected by this earlier release. Reason for earlier, better GPU zero information on anything or everything connected, like cost.

Slimmer faster and what???
Every year chips are slimmer and faster from previos generations. even many years old SD845 or so is capable to run same things as current smartphones.
And flagship phones 5-10 years old still takes 15-30 seconds to boot i mean run its OS from turned off just like the latest generation.
Nothing new happened. Only lot more marketing gimmick were given for customer satsfaction.

This is why the 8 Elite was such a HUGE boost over the 8 gen 3!
