This may however be changing with rising customers like Nvidia and apple seemingly not adopting immediately.

Not bad I'd say. I'm still using a 14 nm as main and my 6nm is shutdown for secondary . I lost interest in mobiles soon after I started collecting them but 3nm is a great feat. Same for 4nm being quit good , 3nm getting better would be more nicer than 2nm being quickly made. Its too early to do fast but I'm not against it.
After 4nm most don't heat a lot but it's depending on chip cause my old 14nm heats less than 6nm , its about performance and phone using that chip. Maybe it's not common , can't say

I answered the guy from the point of selling to the end customers. Does it matter who manufactures? Should we deep dive from where they get design? Arm?

The main comment to which I answered was focusing on competition/alternatives on the market leading to a point with no monopoly.

They also use TSMC to manufacture their high end chips. It's basically only TSMC and Samsung that can manufacture flagship level smartphone processors.

Relying only in TSMC is bad bc of the price, but also the fact that if China eventually do something to Taiwan, well, every tech will be doomed without any alternatives, this is the argument that any clown can't counter

Usual wafer price translate to price of chip, atleast to mature nodes with high yields

                            2. About soc price we have data from counterpoint research and others, just google Pixel BOM Gsmarena has plenty of articles.

-Newer Tensor soc cost around $80 manufactured by 4LPP with die size of 135sqmm

                            -snapdragon 8 gen 2 $160 with die size 118mm2

60% is pretty incredible for 2nm. But there really is no need for it

Apple does NOT HAVE another option - non viable!

This isn't Apple 'delaying' ANYTHING ... its TSMC that is delaying!
When TSMC needs to retrofit their existing facilities and to certify their yields for production wafers ... then Apple CANNOT DO ANYTHING AT ALL.

See this is what happens with tech news is written with opionion or sourced with opinion without simple common-sense. Facts get TURNED and TWISTED.

Apple does not MAKE ANY of its hardware and hasn't since 1990! The outsource. if their source cannot themselves certify wafer yields for production - then nothing from Apple can be done, beyond colaboration and discussions. period.

Why to rush ? 3nm is enough for another 10 years :)))
