Whereas Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Huawei have a better and more productive worker
And you're affraid Xiaomi/Vivo/Oppo/Huawei way will make you're favorite brand have a hard time?

You can't just increase productivity in a vacuum either, especially if the amount of workload that you're expecting is suddenly so much higher. You could increase their pay, streamline the software between different phones so that there's less differences to have to focus on, etc. Whatever you do though, your costs will still increase. Don't tell me "Apple logic" when Apple's PROFITS are higher than anyone else's. You don't have to have as little SKUs as Apple, as Samsung also earns a lot by selling way more SKUs than Apple, but unlike them, they have a great unutilised potential for extra profit that can be filled by reducing the number of SKUs made by them.

well, actually, it's the "investor" logic on how to maximize company profit.
Hint: It doesn't work that way

There were many overlap component that doesn't need extra engineer to maintain it.

The Poco X6 doesn't have a glass body, it doesn't have 200MP and don't have eSIM.. What's the purpose? Cheaper price but the phone is almost similar to Redmi. In the end the experience is not much different because it uses the same SoC, screen and battery but it's CHEAPER.

They should discontinue poco brand too. Useless subbrand. Just launch them under redmi instead of rebranding every single phone.

DomtheCuber, 02 Jan 2025If Xiaomi simplified their lineup, then they’d probably be ... moreExactly!!! Less phones means that you can spend more time optimising and maintaining the software experience for each phone. For simplicity's sake, let's say each year you put out 40 smartphones. If you can get that down to, say, 9-10 smartphones, you've massively cut down on the amount of software that you need to update, maintain and optimise, so you can do all three much easier and for longer. If you have 40 phones with a 3 year OS update policy, then on any given year, you will be updating, maintaining and optimising for 120 phones instead of 27-30! Then, you could instead do 5-7 years of OS updates, and you will still only have to target 45-50/63-70 phones per year. You will have massively cut down on the amount of work while giving consumers more reason to purchase your product, and this cuts costs and thus prices/gives better specs at the same price.

Keep in mind the above assumes that a 3/5-7 year cycle of phone releases have happened/existing products have been given extended update support. This is just to simplify the calculation.

Darth Caesium, 02 Jan 2025You're accusing me of very much the opposite of what I... moreIf Xiaomi simplified their lineup, then they’d probably be able to give each of their phones more updates because it’s easier to make an update for 10 different models of phones than make one for 50 different models. And since the Poco F series phones have flagship chipsets, Xiaomi might be able to give them 5-7 years of updates, which is amazing for that price bracket.

They should continue in the same fashion and discontinue redundant rebranded phones

Yeah considering Xiaomi never spun off Poco completely (like Oppo and Realme), made sense to save cost and integrate back to Xiaomi.

Champion phones must have flat sides! Good to see Xiaomi gets this!!
