There is onky 1% of the general population (those who heavily game) to see a difference in day to day tasks. Gen 1 phones are practically the same for day to day tasks as snapdragon elite.
There is barely an issue for most people, not even an inconvenience.
Lack of gms and above all lack of banking g apps, yeah that's a problem.
If those get solved in *some* way this is the oldest phone money can buy. 8 inches yet sized any flagship *with* the best camera setup in the market (dxomark leading)...

About the 2 major issues:
- you should know that with small layers, MicroG or Gbox, you recover all Google functions
- the processor is probably equivalent to a SD8 Gen2 and that should not be a problem for any applications. Huawei decided to be totally independent from foreign technologies.
So these are not issues.
This is THE top foldable full stop. And these devices are expensive.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2025Just be grateful U.S. still allow other chinese brands to u... moreReason is because those other brands aren't a threat to Apple position in the technology world.
Huawei is also the leader of 5G and telecommunications.
Take ZTE as an example Thier telecommunications is banned in the west but Thier smartphone isn't ban in the west.
Reason to the telecommunication is banned it because they lead the telecommunication after Huawei and reason the smartphone isn't ban is because they're not in top 5 the best brand in the world.
Huawei lead in telecommunications
Second behind Samsung in smartphone while Apple 3rd in position
Huawei lead Apple by 6% market share while Samsung lead Huawei by just 2%, Huawei was going for no1 before they get banned

Your benchmark results show that the Mate X6 performs better than the Pixel Pro 9 Fold with its Tensor G4. So if Google can charge a hefty price tag for its fold and call it a flagship why can't Huawei? I can see the Google Play services being a hiccup for many but most people don't asks themselves if this is a phone that has a processor built with the latest nanometer process before they buy a phone. Huawei can charge what it does because in daily performance you won't notice a difference between it's phones and any other flagship. And they also have the best cameras in the world which is a lot more important for most people than the processor inside.

Man, I really don't understand why Huawei can't just push Honor into more regions. Honor is basically Huawei with GMS.

Why do you keep missing informing on Google services regarding Huawei phones, Google is not out of reach for Huawei, as demonstrated by many phone reviewers, for example average dad, you can use Micro G and install Google with no problems, some apps like android auto don't work but a majority do.

Lee 8V88, 05 Jan 2025I don't think privacy was the USA's real issue. I... moreExactly, right to the point. Huawei would be first smartphone producer, but that was not the problem. Many people from the West Europe and in USA starting to switch to them, and Apple starting to lose money. Also, they designed their own chipsets, so big loss for Qualcomm, another USA company. That is free market and democracy - okey just when my companies earn money.

Ottonis, 05 Jan 2025That's indeed true. I wonder if they use a different S... moreIt's the same hardware. 5G is disabled by software. Anyway, 5G operates in different frequency bands depending on the country. Also, Huawei can design and optimize it's devices for the supported bands
For instance, the US uses mmWave which is not supported by the Kirin modem

Txindoki, 05 Jan 2025No GMS is Okay but no 5G is a deal breaker That's indeed true. I wonder if they use a different SoC without the 5G radio for the global market, or if it's the same SoC as in the Chinese versions that only needs a firmware update in order to activate 5G functionality.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2025But its huawei fault for selling it with expensive price ta... morePrices are indeed high, that's correct. In 2020, the P30 pro was selling for just little over 600 Euros, and the P30 was a premium, top of the line. cameraphone flagship back then. Now the latest camera flagship, the P(ura) 70 ultra, sells for 1200 Euro.
That being said, it seems that all majopr brands first establkish themselves using lower than average priceses and once they have garnered a reputation and brand recognition, they increase their prices. Just look at OnePlus. A dcade ago, OnePlus was the epitome of "flagship killer", now their top of the line phones cost significantly more.
These are the laws of the market, it seems....

It's less important to have the latest and greatest chipset than to have a smartphone device that allows for buttery-smooth operability, great responsiveness, and that manages to handle all tasks without hiccups that are being thrown at it. And of course, that has great battery life.
So, as long as a Huawei device has all of that, it's rather irrelevant whether it has a 3nm, 5nm, or 7nm SoC.
There are only few people that actually run emulations on their phones (these often require plenty of processing power), and adding specialty coprocessors or image signal processing chips can more than make up for overall CPU performance in specific tasks with specialty processing demands.
And most Android apps can be used via GBox.
So, that's the state of Huawei: they build great phones, probably still the best cameraphones available, and in everyday use it simply makes little to no difference that they are using a 7nm SoC.

But its huawei fault for selling it with expensive price tag.
Imagine latest huawei phone but with 500USD maximum price tag, many people would still try purchasing it online.
Any mediocre phone must be sold with cheaper price.

Lee 8V88, 05 Jan 2025I don't think privacy was the USA's real issue. I... moreYep, there are over 600 Chinese companies on the US entity list including placed purely for the reason that they have developed competing solutions and have the potential of surpassing US technologies. Many of them are competing computer hardware and software companies like Huawei.
