potato4k, 04 Jan 2025Huh? If one can get a phone with the same battery endurance... moreCurrent compactish phones with SiC have 5500mah batteries (Xiaomi 15, Vivo pro mini) and are 8-8.5mm thick. Vanilla s24 have 4000mah battery and is 7.6mm thick. If they shifted to SiC, I am pretty sure they can cram in 5000mah+ in there.
I would rather have a 7.5mm, which is thin enough with 5000+mah rather than a 6mm thin phone with sub 4000mah battery. 1.5mm thickness difference seems negligible when compared to 25% gain in battery capacity.

SweeetY, 04 Jan 2025Just ditch the S25+ that is the same as S24+, and call S25 ... moreThe Slim is a test. If the sales are good, I’m sure Samsung will replace the + with it on the S26.

Senibo Milla, 04 Jan 2025"Samsung allegedly hastily started developing the Gala... moreJust like Apple hastily putting AI (aka begging Google and OpenAI for collaboration) on their phones to catch up with Samsung.
It's called feature parity. Samsung is the flagship of Android, the one carrying the flag as the best representation of Android. Thus anytime Apple does something, Samsung has to match it to have the equivalent to maintain them as equal competition in the eye of the public. Titanium on the S24 Ultra was the perfect example.

Rkm, 04 Jan 2025I think now might be the best time to buy a new phone. Almo... moreHuh? If one can get a phone with the same battery endurance as phones today with the same battery capacity but thinner profile, why one wouldn't want that? Go look at the ridiculously bulky Samsung Ax5 series and S23FE. They shouldn't be that bulky and heavy. Vivo started the trend that large battery != thick and heavy. This is a good thing.
The complaints were that thinner phones use smaller battery and thus have less battery life. Now with the technology solving that problem and OEMs can maintain large capacity battery while being thinner, that's progress.

I think now might be the best time to buy a new phone. Almost all manufacturers are using SiC batteries to pack in enormous battery life into their phones. Now, these two "trendsetters" will use it to make unnecessarily thin phones with the same battery life and market it like it's a huge thing and divert the market to make similar ridiculously thin phones. It will take another 3-4 years for phones to be thicker again.
They are just setting everything back 3-4 years.

Slimmer in the sense, reduced components including battery capacity. Expect lesser price and not the similar. Good strategy of making profit.

SweeetY, 04 Jan 2025Just ditch the S25+ that is the same as S24+, and call S25 ... moreNo I disagree, I prefer if Samsung made its own segment for the slim series, because slim = reduced components

I am not liking this trend of we needing to pay more for slimmer but essentially lesser equipped phones.
