Most people I've seen got the regular Galaxy S because it's the cheapest from the lineup. If they were given the option of larger screen for the same price, they would opt for larger screen.

                    There are even rumors that Samsung would discontinue the regular Galaxy S model starting with the S26, meaning the "smallest" option would either be the S26+ or S26 slim. It's sad, but unfortunate reality.

Samsung is perceived by the public as the flag bearer of Android, the main competitor to Apple. As such, Samsung has to maintain product and feature parity with Apple. If not, people will wonder "what? How come Samsung didn't do that?", and it will hurt Samsung's brand value.

                      And that's a good thing. It's called competition. We are at peak smartphone. It's easy to just pack in everything including the kitchen sink into a big and bulky phone. But put a limitation on it, ie thinness, and innovation will arise. Look at the Macbook Air. When Jobs announced it at the first time, it was laughed at. People were saying "who wanted something that thin?" Fast forward, it jumpstarted the ultrabook initiative, forcing AMD to improve efficiency (forget intel, they sucked), forcing Apple to innovate with Apple Silicon, and now we have Snapdragon X Elite. Somebody had to take the first step.

Any flagship within the last 5 years are fine doing regular tasks today. We are at peak smartphone in terms of the minimum required performance for regular tasks have been greatly exceeded.

New battery tech has been demonstrated by Vivo where you can pack in higher density cells into a thinner chassis. Apple design is obvious, when there's a way to make something thinner, they will. As the main perceived competitor, Samsung has to do feature parity, thus they have to offer a slim phone as well.

                              If you want bulky and heavy phone, then stick with Samsung A or FE series.

                                I for one think that the entire mobile industry is controlled centrally, and they're doing a very bad job at hiding this.

                                Last year, both iPhone and Samsung flagships were crazy for satellite communication.
                                Suddenly this year, both are crazy for "thin" phones.
                                Next year, maybe both will be crazy for lighter weight, who knows?

                                This is despite the fact that it takes months to develop a product.. and customers have preference differences, they're not alike.

                                What the hell is happening? Who's controlling them, NSA? USA? Illuminati?

Granted that is a whole lot bigger then the iphone mini format. I think it is an excellent balance between visibility and portability. Really a lot of people didnt ask for 16 cm tall and 76mm broad phones. It is fun to play around with these large screens and for some people it is kinda a daytime job.. Many now feel like its enough give me a smaller one and other productive stuff id rather do on a laptop or tablet with an actual physical keyboard and GET THINGS DONE and stop playing around with these clumsy behemoths of phones, which are still just toys.

                                    No wonder people don't upgrade so often now.
                                    I feel the new think craze will take some time to be worth upgrading too, a bit like foldables (which I think still need some work)

                                      What to expect? Easy answer.

                                      I expect Galaxy S25 Slim to be sold with higher units than any mediocre chinese flagship.
