Anonymous, 12 Jan 2025All phones will have compromises. If you're unable to ... moreI rather switch for a dumb phone like HMD offering right now, or Fairphone with Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ or fully gone Apple if MicroSDXC stop existing on all smartphone going forward to do all the phone works that my Xperia used to work in the future than I had to lose any access to MicroSDXC at all if Xperia had to stop exist. Because I am still eyeing for a Sony Alpha camera that needs some form of storage expansion. Like since when a camera relied fully on cloud when saving the pictures from the lenses? Relying fully on cloud for photos storage isn't hassle free. I had to deal it and it sucked when your internet isn't as fast the one South Korean having now. There is a reason why Taylor Swift able to survived very well because the balance reliance on both physical media like CD and vinyls and streaming service are there. I really can't blame ex-Android users, Apple fans, and Apple users that mocked us or moved to or use Apple completely and exclusively because the Android OEMs loved to copy Apple and removing that distinct Android from Apple up to 2014.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2025That's an ancient phone my brother ..the only thing go... moreWell, do you have other alternatives phone today that gives a complete package features that I needed below OUTSIDE Sony Xperia today? Good luck, I don't find one that has all. Even the nearest one like HTC U24 Pro and Aquos R9 compromised quite a few.
- MicroSDXC card slot (the most important one, no MicroSDXC is a deal-breaker for me no matter how flawless the phone are)
- no notch display
- front-firing Stereo Speakers
- two-stage camera button
- no-curved screen
- wireless charging + wired
- pinless SIM card slot
- full-manual control on videos and photos
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- flat, squared, but chamfered design or full flat, squared but grippy like 1 V/1 VI
- stockish Android
These specs are the one I needed for my smartphone. GAMIR3DH, 12 Jan 2025Right, seen people with Pixels and OnePluses on my country ... moreWell yes because samsung was second brand after motorola with phones. Their first phone came to the world in the begining of 80s.
And for the fact Samsung brand is available litterary everywhere maybe apart Cuba and North Korea you can buy samsung among all 206 countries in world.
Make and do same ground for other brands and Samsung wont be so opopular ebcause many chinese brands for half the price can make same device and maybe same qualiry excluding green lines on screen.

Jack , 12 Jan 2025How much does your current phone cost ?I bought a secondary-hand Xperia 1 II for around 429 USD or around 7 million IDR in August 2023 from former owner who decided to sold his 1 II to me with the help of my dad because the former owner decided to purchase Xperia 1 V (newest Xperia flagship at that time, 1 VI didn't exist at the time I acquired my 1 II 2 years ago). Xperia 1 II, even the entire Xperia lineup didn't enter Indonesia officially at all since 2016, so based on the US price at time of 1 II launch 5 years ago, it was down 771 USD from its origin price (although my Xperia 1 II is the Hong Kong unit). The Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro Max 6/128 that I owned now, was given to me for free, but based on retail price at the time, iPhone 13 Pro Max costed 1099 USD (in Indonesia, it costed 20 million IDR when launch here 4 years ago).

Before Samsung and Huawei removed their MicroSDXC card slot and NM Card slot since Galaxy S21 series and Huawei Pura 70 series, even LG V60 before LG thrown the towel in 2021, I was considering them as alternative for my next phone as Sony is no longer officially selling Xperia since 2016 here. But after both companies removed them completely and LG quits the game, my choice dwindled to Sony Xperia only. The nearest phone I would purchase to accommodate my needs for MicroSDXC is Sharp Aquos R9 non-Pro, Sense8, and Moto G Stylus 2024. Even Sharp has removed them on the R9 Pro, making choice even more challenging outside Sony. My only other flagship phone outside Sony Xperia that I am currently owned is the 2021 Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max with configuration of
6/128 GB that was given by my rich friend for free and that's the only no-expandable storage phone series that I can tolerate as iPhone never included them since the very first iteration in 2007. The others except Sony, just copying like no tomorrow, sigh....
"Only because I don't think people should be "loyal" to a brand and be open minded to what's out there instead."
I wanted to, but considering how horrendous smartphone industry trends have become since Huawei being nerfed significantly by the US and Samsung copying Apple again since S21 series and removing features have become a norm since 2021, then everyone follows, and Sony is the one of very few that who resisted the most changes brought by the trends, although even they did, they really do it on their own style and keeping the essentials I need, hence moving to other companies is just painful when MicroSDXC is not just a want, but fully necessity at full capacity. As long there are no other companies offering a complete package like Xperia 1 VI or as long Sony didn't remove the MicroSDXC card slot in upcoming Mark 7 and above, Sony is pretty much my only choice going forward. I may move to Apple in the future completely though if the condition getting much more challenging for me to obtain Sony Xperia and a quite powerful Android with MicroSDXC card slot. Even Xiaomi now have removed the MicroSDXC card slot in their Redmi Note Pro series, alongside Realme number series Pro, as well Vivo's V series non-Lite, Oppo Reno non-F, Samsung above A5x series that I am not confident enough that A56 will retain the expandable storage considering Samsung's steps that has been unpredictable, getting myself in a situation I disliked so much that I rather purchase HMD's smartphone solution + Galaxy Tab S10+ than to live with a phone this community loved so much but no MicroSDXC card slot.

When another android flagship offers Dex, S pen , goodlock modules , anti reflection display , one ui interface ,impeccable software updates with no software bugs , glitches , stutter , support brick stores in every city , , at least those , I will absolutely consider them. Until then , they are of no use to me .

LTRace, 12 Jan 2025Nah, it's actually crazy how much Sony Xperia 1 VI is ... moreThose that like sony, should really save money and get mark 7.
Xperia ( and probably Bravia) may not be around by 2027/28.
Current CEO is against selling electronics ( except PlayStation).
Significant part of budget for electronics has been moved to DEI.
Rumors point that there will not be 10 vii already. 1 mark 8 or 9 might be last xperia ever.

the poll seemed pointless to me. The pixel 9 pro was the stand out from last year for the size and cameras yet didn't make the list. The sony top model was my fave for it's size and the 3.5mm and sd slot yet let down by the cameras and price. I have no desire for a foldable like so many others by the poll stats. so in the end like many others i think, i was not interested in buying any flagship phone from last year.

Chinese Flagships are Getting better and better every year .. Some of them are better the Samsung.
But Samsung has a Huge Fan base and Market coverage comparing to Chinese Brands .. Chinese phones are also available in Select markets and Some models are only available in China.
Which is a huge Disadvantage for Chinese Manufacturers
