jiyen235, 15 Jan 2025price drops. I got my S22 Ultra for 1200 dollars in October... moreThen it seems you don't know what price drop means. An s23u launched with 256gb and was priced at 1199 if you saw it at 1100 on Sept 2023 that's a 99 dollar price drop in almost year. That's not a horrendous price drop my guy. Except u saw a mistake/not saying the exact storage space. And the s24u is 1000 dollar? That's a 200 dollar price drop in a year. What are you saying?

potato4k, 15 Jan 2025You have a point in reusing the phone for family members. I... moreThis is my second Redmi Note in the last 6 years and I'm not a kid. I simply seek value for money. I could by the top Iphone or Samsung, but don't want to. Cause I don't need the top specs in everyday activities and possible repair of such top phone is more expensive. We are conditioned (my manufacturers' marketing depts) to expect a new model each year. And annual changes in phones are not so big to justify purchase of a new mobile phone. So, I'm satisfied with a mobile phone I own.

My early experience (some 13 years ago) was that a jump in OS versions slowed down the mobile phone I owned then. Nowadays, I see very rarely big problems with OS on the mobile phone.

Why do people still use an ip14 pro? With outdated camera? Yes not everyone is like you, and you don't speak for everyone, that makes your comment irrelevant. More updates are good and not everyone is a power user or camera enthusiast.

It saves the environment as well since they can get a usable and up to date phone instead of having to buy a new one. And I think that's the general trend of consumers as well. Thus we see Google and Samsung pushing longer updates (they won't just to that for kicks since software development cost money, and not cheap). Even the Chinese are getting more aware, with more OEMs are improving their software update length (ie from previously just 1 or 2 into 3 or 4). So clearly the industry is seeing the good in offering longer software updates.
But most people here are basically kids with cheap Redmi phones. That's why they feel they don't need software updates because they keep trading in their phones yearly for a new one just so they can look different. And this is also why the Chinese are refreshing their mid to low end phones every 6 months.

Anonymous, 15 Jan 20257 years of promised OS upgrades. As if majority of phone us... moreEveryone should care about OS updates even if you only keep the phone for 2-3 years. A phone with longer updates will hold the price up for longer periods. Samsung it’s notorious for faster downfall of market value compared to iPhones. Personally i keep my phone 3-4 years and then i give them to my parents. They aren’t power users but it’s good to know they got at least 2-3 years of security updates, basically like a new low/mid range.

So basically the same S22 Ultra with a flat screen. Samsung is now taking out as many features as they can, zero innovations since S22 Ultra yet the price is higher. This year I'll go with Oneplus 13. It's not the best that's for sure but at least I'm not buying the same phone for years.
Shame on Samsung for scamming people with the same phone for years !!

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2025Bro the s24 ultra is not cheaper than an s22 ultra. I don... moreprice drops. I got my S22 Ultra for 1200 dollars in October 2022, 12/256 version. I can now get an S24 Ultra for 1000 dollars, been the same thing since September/October. In Sept-Nov 2023 the S23 Ultra was available for 1100 dollars, for the 12/256 GB version.
The launch prices of Samsung phones are horrendous but they fall in price quicker than a plane that has been shot down. The S24 Ultra was around 1400-1500 dollars at launch where i live.
