Is Samsung thinking of ditching the S Pen in future Galaxy S Ultras?

We hope not but it sure looks like it.

When the s6 and note 5 came out i should have realized how that was truly the beginning of the end

      Am I the only one who wants a 7.1 incher Slab phone ( M14 OLED ) with 6000-6500 mAH Si-C battery with S-Pen ?

Anyhow, even with the S-Pen tucked in, it is not technologically difficult for Samsung to increase battery capacity of the phone. Not sure what is taking so long. All other things like S-Pen takes up space, camera modules take up space etc.. are just excuses. And why the hell are they selling 'bigger Vapor chamber' as a new feature ?

They boxed themselves in a corner, almost no one is using the S pen but even if it's just 1% of total users that's a lot of people, and that's probably the more vocal people.
But on the other side having a feature used by so little people doesn't really make sense, they could use the space better or make the phone thiner.

Nah, not ditch it, rather rethinking it, is the only product that needs development, we're surrounded with rings, watches, cards, etc, and this is the only item that's basically part of the phone itself. Samsung should go next level by implementing a unique use and other functionality aspects, I can imagine a Spen-microphone build version for youtubers that go live street, doing interviews and so on, another commercial version for graphic design/architecture/art that brings new levels of sensitivity, responsiveness and feedback comparable to a medium level Wacom. Imagine an Spen with AI integrated to move in virtual spaces like a VR, for a virtual navigation assistance for example. Samsung has the upper hand here, but it lacks ideas that can be brought without having a crazy cost. Needs better planning, more development and less marketing self-inflicted fear of rushing things up.

[deleted post]Well, they could do something useful instead. Like for example test and provide meaningful information on other devices, software updates, tips&tricks, adb tools, etc..
They didn't even mention the vast amount of bloatware , coming with s25 series and how much of it can be removed..same with hyperos2...

I mean we don't need tech site that copies marketing materials.

If Samsung ditches the S Pen, then it'd be just like any other flagship Android phone out there.

From the Omnia II back in 2009, I have been a user of Samsung stylus models, up to the S23 Ultra. If Samsung removes the in-house stylus from its future models, there is no reason for me to return to Samsung. The S Pen offers the exclusivity of buying Ultra models.

I have many notes, and it is so handy to quickly use the stylus and make notes.

Whether it was used or not, taking away innovation is bad.

Bring back Note like with the S Pen leave the S line without it and put in bigger batteries

                      "Samsung thinking.."

                      That's a haiku...

I think they will ditch it, in order to make phones that are even more generic but still charge $1300+ for them.

The other possibility is that they will ditch the Ultra entirely, and just put the pen in their Foldables somehow once that tech gets there.

S-Pen is the only reason I keep purchasing S Ultra series. Otherwise there are better options among huge devices without S-Pen.
Actually I wish there was a bit smaller device with S-Pen on the market.

                            Samsung's strategy is really pathetic.

Introducing a feature only to remove it later, and that's Samsung. Should be their new tagline.

SPen is the biggest reason why I am buying Samsung phones. The shutter was a great feature. In my opinion, a Plus size with SPen would be perfect phone.

SPen is also great for presentations. You can connect the phone to a TV or projector, and SPen helps you with sliding through photos or PowerPoint slides.

                                  So many possibilities.

1.) They could have cases that could have an S Pen as an alternative.

2.) They could just ditch it on Ultras altogether either for a unified S Pen experience on the Folds and Ultras somehow, perhaps through the case S Pens being the same, OR they could just ditch it entirely with little to no other camera/battery improvements, thus only saving space and massively saving costs.

3.) They could also use this justification to bring a hardware upgrade, but a minor one, for example in the S27 series they could bring Si/C batteries but remove the S Pen and act like the bigger battery demanded it, as a result of this they could have space left in the future for adding bigger cameras so future R&D Costs will be lower alongside the production costs.

Whatever the case, the future looks gloomy. Consumers who defend Samsung now will continue defending them in the future, nothing will change now as there's a loyal fanbase/the average person somehow likes anti-consumer practices, so we'll all get the worst possible phones for the highest prices they can charge.

I don't use S-Pen, but knowing it's there and available to you is the point of it. I had two occasions where I needed to sign a document and there is no way you can do it well with finger. So I could sign it right there and send it over on the spot.

Also I have Galaxy Watch, but I also wear regular mechanical watches and then you have no remote function because Samsung wants to be cheap and keep removing functions from their god damn flagship phone.

                                      from the creators of:

                                      no microSD: no purchase

                                      no jack 3.5: no purchase

it comes to us.... no S Pen: no purchase.

                                      🤣

Samsung eliminated charging adapters years ago, so it can eliminate the S Pen. greed = Apple = Samsung

So we are going to have ugly 5 camera setup with no s-pen...lol, all the cheap chinese phone will suddenly become more attractive..even Oneplus will be much better option compared to future S ultras..who would dare to pay extra 400$ for oneplus lookalike:)))
