PetrovBG, 28 Jan 2025Hm, but Magic7 Lite is officially sold here too. That means... moreThis is because Magic 7 Pro was certified first and Magic 7 Lite later. This gave Honor time to adapt to the new EU regulations.

They needed other Packaging and labeling for all phones in the EU. Thats why they reduced the size of battery. So dont blame the company, blame the European Union

If you have a big battery like 6000 mAh, you need extra security in storage at warehouses in the EU. Oneplus for exapmle dont need this, because they have 2 cell battery with 3000 mAh. Honor and Vivo use single cell battery. Thats why they cant bring 6000 mAh to Europe.

notafanboy, 28 Jan 2025Yup. The Magic7 Lite with 6600mAh battery comes to mind. Wh... moreYep. I'm definitely not buying any model trying to scam europeans. I'd only consider buying a phone with reduced battery if in return it really was removable.

The realme gt7 pro comes with a smaler battery in India

DVSeal, 28 Jan 2025This is what a quick check in copilot said regarding why ch... moreSounds like nonsense, i don't see what this has to do with removable batteries since all these models still have non-removable batteries despite the smaller size. Besides, there are phones with much bigger batteries being sold here.

This is what a quick check in copilot said regarding why chinese phones come with smaller batteries on the European market:

Heya! Yes, there is indeed an EU regulation that impacts the battery sizes in smartphones. The European Union has introduced regulations that require smartphones to have user-replaceable batteries by 2027
                  1
. This regulation aims to encourage users to extend the life of their electronic devices by making it easier to replace worn-out batteries, thereby reducing e-waste and contributing to a more sustainable future
                  2
                  .

Additionally, the EU has guidelines on the removability and replaceability of portable batteries, which include safety and data integrity considerations
                  3
. These regulations may lead manufacturers to design smartphones with smaller batteries to comply with the requirements for user-replaceable batteries and other safety standards

                    Why though?

HONOR did the same with the Magic7 Pro. UK/EU units are stuck at 5270mAh while Southeast Asia and China gets 5850mAh.

oppo group's brands (oppo, vivo, oneplus, realme, iqoo) have used oppo battery health technology, which doubles battery's lifespan recharge cycles to the 1,600 cycles from basic 800, so your battery health would only hit 80% after 4 years.

they dropped that technology in recent phones with Si/C batteries in favour of bigger capacity. i would still prefer old Li/Po batteries with 1,600 cycles, because bigger capacity still would be inferior to more cycles in the long run.

but now it seems they don't even bother to be consistent with batteries' capacities in a new models. going backwards

                              Hahahaha

So much for those shilling for Chinese phones and saying "scamsung". They're all scams. Every single one of them. Nothing but con artists trying to nickle and dime you out of your money.

That's extremely unfortunate and if people buy the phone based on the reviews of the higher capacity phones then it'd be basically like false advertising. Vivo should've clarified it at their launch events and sent the smaller capacity units to reviewers. Either this is a glaring oversight or an extremely shady tactic. I love Vivo and all but this is shady and i don't like it.
