Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera specs 'confirmed' by new rumor

04 February 2025
It won't have any rivals in terms of the sheer hardware used.

I think I would rather wait for the Vivo X200 Ultra. I'm still so disgusted with my wife's Xiaomi 13 Ultra (CN) blocking every single notification from any app which isn't Chinese (Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, everything).

Circular bump design is such a waste of space
They could go with rectangular one like on Mi 11 Ultra and fit twice as long telephoto, while reserving some space for bigger wireless charging coil

Just ones with really tiny sensors

vik457, 05 Feb 2025No, I have seen contradicting reports, especially recently ... moreWell those reports are wrong. It's very clear what DCS meant

Anonymous, 05 Feb 2025Unfortunately, that's not zooming but cropping. It... moreIt is cropping but without digital upscaling, the resolution stays at 12.5MP until 17.2Times.

On top of it, the sensor you are cropping from is almost 4Times as large as the persicopes you can usually find.

The Virtual sensor cropoed to 8.6Times is 50MP at 1/2.80

Periscope phones with a 5Times optical zoom lens usually have only a 1/2.8 or 1/2.51 sensor to begin with at 50MP as well.

Therefore its simply getting outcalles by the 4.3Times Periscope as a its crop to 5 Times ist still much more sensor area than the usual phones have at 5Times.

In which case the digital crop beats the optical lens by a lot.

That camera design is interesting or layout???
(Sorry, english is not my first language.)
                  Kinda ugly, ngl.
Hopefully the official design looks way better.

Fa14bi, 05 Feb 2025The 4.3 Times camera is 4 Times larger in sensor size than ... moreUnfortunately, that's not zooming but cropping. It's fundamentally different because cropping keeps the original prime physical properties. Overall 15 Ultra 4.3x prime still has all the lens properties of 4.3x or 100mm no matter how much you crop into the image.

It took camera modders to use it to full potential with 12-bit on gn2 and 14-bit on lyt-900, because only recently they even started bothering to implement it, check RaguSaucy96.

JN5 for ultrawide? Please stop using that terrible, entry-level Samsung sensor in flagship phones. We had 1/1,54" ultrawide camera in the Huawei P40 Pro and 1/1,56" in Oppo Find X5 Pro, so I don't understand why Vivo and Xiaomi use this old, small(1/2,76") and bad camera hardware if the other sensors are in the top category.
