The full ma... moreThe subsidies introduced this year mentioned by GSMArena are general subsidies for smartphones which don't target Huawei or vivo but price points.
You then link to an old article that is no longer relevant talking about subsidies in one city (Shenzhen) for vivo and Huawei as proof they will be top brands.

Anonymous, 9 hours agoEveryone could buy any phone from internet these days. Its ... moreWhere have you been? While Samsung still commands sales due to brand name, they already lost a lot to competitors. Those who buy china brands are people that could've been buying Samsung products.
Apple die hard base is also what's keeping them alive. Parents don't want to lose their jobless teenagers' love if they didn't buy them iphones thru credit. All because they do not want to be left out of their circles of friends who also use iphones.

This is a healthy competitive market where 6 major brands (with sub-brands) fighting for marketshare via innovation and incentive. Most western and Japanese & Korean market are dead with just Apple copying Android and Samsung copying Apple

vik457, 7 hours agoUnder oppo?Yes, Oneplus are included in OPPO'S figures. Realme isn't though. Realme is in others but Realme's sales are relatively low in China as they have hardly any stores at all and none in the big cities. Basically they only sell online

The artic... moreBro this is FROM the GSM article posted TODAY:
The full market in Q4 2024 was at 75 million smartphone shipments, growing 5.3% YoY. This was the market's fourth consecutive quarter showing YoY growth. For the full year 2024, shipments were 271.4 million, up 3.7% compared to 2023. With the introduction of smartphone subsidies this year, the growth should continue.

jiyen235, 9 hours agoApple's phones are cheapest in America, they have nice... moreYour made up comparison is nonsense. By all means, cite some sources instead of making things up. Cheap prices and deals is far different than the government paying for part of your phone.
Oh, by the way, Iphones are actually cheaper in China than in the US. You make no sense. Try reading. Midwit. Maybe if you read an article you can raise the average iq. lol

jiyen235, 9 hours agoApple's phones are cheapest in America, they have nice... moreApple does have high market share in China though despite being expensive there. They were number 2 after all despite only having phones in the higher priced bracket and despite competition from every major brand apart from Google. Actually, in the large cities I would be confident that they have the highest market share. It's outside the tier 1 and tier 2 cities where Vivo make most of their sales. It would be interesting to see sales stats for different cities and regions in China. Apple's market share in tier 1 cities is definitely very high but second place overall in the largest global market with the most competition is still very strong.

Yes there are cheap phones with issues but as someone who has direct contact with one of the biggest mobile carriers local repair shop I can tell you that Samsung is not all that cracked up to be... not even Apple is what it was years ago.
Samsung is particularly bad at mid or low end models, notably worse then say Honor, Oppo or Huawei. Xiaomi has a lot of issues with low end models as well and problems with software bugs, Motorola(Lenovo/Catarpillar) is somewhat better but they are down hill as well.

Availability is key, not just because people prefer to buy locally instead of online, but also because of carrier compatibility.
